Job Description | Tasks: • Support the Regional Team Leader and Technical Lead Specialists in facilitating, coordinating and supporting key stakeholders to improve in-service and elements of pre-service training for primary teachers in selected Regions • Develop and maintain a clear vision of the best focus and timing of EQUIP-Tanzania assistance • Ensure positive and timely contribution to planning and implementation of EQUIP-Tanzania activities in the respective region of operations • Promote the use of feedback and engagement of beneficiaries and stakeholders to guide implementation and shape future practice in in-service training • Lead situational analysis and strengthen evidence base on INSET and PRESET in Tanzania • Provide support to the development of the teacher training strand of EQUIP-Tanzania, including training of master trainers, a school-based approach to INSET and mentoring mechanisms • Enhance capacity and raise the profile of head teachers in supporting teacher development • Actively pursue the adoption of new approaches to teacher education and improving teacher motivation and morale • Coordinate materials development, including development of mini-modules for CPD in subject knowledge and skills and the introduction of innovative use of media • Promote teacher-initiated materials development for improved teaching and learning • Enhance teachers’ capacity to use teaching resources optimally and creatively • Oversee the design of incentive packages for teachers to positively influence their professional motivation and morale, and promote the application of OPRAS • Generate synergies and ensure lesson learning between EQUIP-Tanzania and other INSET efforts • Assure the quality of technical assistance provided at the Regional level • Ensure technical information flow among the programme Regions and headquarters |
Candidate Specification | Knowledge, essential competencies, skills and qualifications: • Graduate degree or equivalent related to teacher development • Experience of training of teachers and teacher trainers • Experience in educational planning, management or other relevant field • Knowledge and experience of working in the Tanzanian education system • Proven track record of engagement in raising teachers’ standards through INSET/CPD (preferable) APPLY |
