The USAID Applying Science to Strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST) Project is a new five-year cooperative agreement awarded to University Research Co., LLC and is dedicated to improving health, population and nutrition services through technical support to service delivery institutions, country, Ministries of Health, USAID country missions, and cooperating agencies. The new project carries on the work of the USAID Health Care Improvement Project in global advocacy, development, and promotion of cost-effective methods to design and improve health care services and systems in low- and middle-income countries. USAID ASSIST will align evidence-based interventions in technical content areas such as maternal, newborn and child health, HIV/AIDS, OVC and health workforce – with evidence-based approaches to strengthen and improve systems.
URC is seeking dynamic and qualified individuals to fill the following positions at their Kampala Uganda office on one year renewable contracts:
Quality Improvement Officer – PHFS
The Partnership for HIV-Free Survival (PHFS), with PEPFAR NACS Acceleration Fund support and under the umbrella of the PMTCT/PEDS IATT Child Survival Working Group, aims to support country-led implementation of interventions that will improve maternal health and HIV-free survival of their infants.
Duties:
Work with the ASSIST QI advisor and MOH to support the integration of QI into the National Nutrition, Assessment, Counseling (NACs)
Work with the MOH to support Implementing Partners roll out the Partnership for HIV free survival in 6 districts of Jinja, Namutumba, Manafwa, Tororo, Ntungamo and Kisoro.
Work with the QI advisors to build capacity of the district teams use QI approach to support facility QI teams improve interventions to prevent mother to child transmission of HIV.
Support facility QI teams to identify gaps in provision of Nutrition and PMTCT services , regularly collect and use data to improve linkage of HIV positive mothers and exposed babies to HIV chronic care
Prepare materials for training both at the facility, and district level.
On a regular basis conduct peer to peer learning sessions for the facility teams under the partnership for HIV free survival.
Write reports on the implementation of the partnership

Qualifications:
Diploma in midwifery. A Degree in Nursing is an added advantage.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in Maternal newborn health especially Prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV programs.
Knowledge of Quality Improvement approaches is strongly desired.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills and experience working with other implementing partners
Good analytical skills
Willingness to travel and spend over 50% of their time in the field
Familiarity with USAID regulations is desired.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in Maternal newborn health especially Prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV programs.
Knowledge of Quality Improvement approaches is strongly desired.
