About ANSAF
ANSAF
(Agriculture Non-State Actors Forum) is a member–led forum involving
organisations and individuals from the commercial sector, non-governmental
organisations (NGO) sector (both Tanzanian and international) and from farmers’
groups in Tanzania. It is a forum for non-state actors to discuss and work
towards solutions to improve the agriculture sector in the interests of men and
women currently living in poverty. It was formed in 2006 by members from the private and civil
society organizations, farmers’umbrella groups working in the agricultural
sector in Tanzania. During
its initial stage it was known as Private Sector and Civil Society Agricultural
Working Group (PSCS-AWG). The main
objectives of ANSAF are

share and promote learning among agricultural sector actors
·
To
promote proven and innovative practices within the sector for wider uptake and
consideration by farmers, policy makers and other stakeholders
·
To develop a shared and common understanding
of the challenges, threats and opportunities that the sector faces
·
To
develop common positions and joint actions toward influencing policies and
practices that hinder the development of the sector
Vision
A Tanzanian Society free of poverty where sound
agricultural policies and best practices contribute to the transformation of
the country’s economy.
Mission
ANSAF
seeks to work with members and non-members to orchestrate collaborative efforts
to influence policy and practice change on crucial issues affecting marginal,
smallholder farmers (men and women) and other stakeholders through learning,
communicating and advocacy
JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE:
Driver/Logistician
LOCATION: Dar es Salaam
REPORTING TO: Administration Coordinator
SUPERVISES: none
JOB PURPOSES: Ensuring
vehicle and passengers are safe and fulfill their transport need at the right
time in the right place. Also be responsible for aspects of procurement.
MAJOR DUTIES:
As a Driver:
- To adhere to Tanzania road traffic rules.
§
To be responsible for the ANSAF vehicle you
drive and the safety of the passengers.
§
Ensure that all times, the vehicle is used in
accordance with ANSAF guide lines; for example, speed, passengers, lifts etc. Note
ANSAF are not responsible for unauthorized passengers.
§
Ensure allocated vehicle has valid insurance and
road license.
§
To ensure proper custody of the vehicle
tools/Equipment, for example jack, spare wheels, tool box, etc.
§
To keep the vehicle clean and ensure that it is
regularly checked.
§
To identify and report immediately any vehicle
problem(s) to the management.
§
To enter all journeys information in the vehicle
log book.
§
To ensure the vehicle has sufficient fuel at all
times.
§
Drive safely at all times. Don’t drink alcohol
while driving.
§
Use and assist in use of safety belts to all
passengers at all times while driving.
§
To ensure all provided vehicle tool kit, first
aid kit, jack and wheel spanner are always in good condition and intact.
§
To distribute company letters / documents to
assigned organizations/ ministries/cso’s/ DP offices etc
§
To perform willingly any other duties as
assigned by supervisor.
As a Logistician
§
Assist with the planning and tracking of vehicle
movements and allocation of vehicles through sharing the weekly plan. Dealing
with late request and ensuring that the vehicle movement board is updated
§
Ensure timely service of all vehicles according
to the maintenance tracking board.
§
Ensure high quality maintenance and regular
service of the vehicle and tracking of spares
§
Assist with the maintenance of all filing
systems for transport related information
§
Ensure that log sheets are completed accurately
and submitted each day
§
Fill quotation requests for distribution to
suppliers and following them up
§
Inspect general supplies/ items as received from
suppliers at ascertain quality and quantity
§
Any other duties assigned by the supervisor
PERSONA SPECIFICATION
§
Mechanical knowledge and experience, particularly
with 4x4 Toyota vehicles.
§
Driving license (Defensive Driving Certificate
preferred)- Class C and with a clean record
§
Able to work well in team
§
Strong communication skills
§
Basic computer skills
§
Knowledge of procurement
§
Good planning skills and able to manage time
§
Experience in work in the development sector, and or for
international NGO’s
§
Basic English skills
§
At least 5 years’ experience
§
As a driver have a thorough knowledge of roads
conditions in Tanzania and capability to travel extensively.
