Finn Church Aid (FCA) is looking for a Humanitarian programme officer in the East and Southern Africa, Regional office based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Duties and responsibilities
• Assist the Program Coordinator in project management and overall PME of FCA’s humanitarian projects in East and Southern Africa in accordance with FCA Policies and Guidelines, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, back-donor reporting and evaluation.
• Ensuring that partners follow the reporting schedules guidelines and other requirements as per contracts.
• Assist the Program coordinator to monitor and ensure the technical and financial quality of the on-going humanitarian projects and their compliance with FCA guidelines.
• Support the effective and efficient management of the humanitarian projects consistent with the project management cycle and compliant with FCA procedures, systems and guidelines
• Assist the Program Coordinator to monitor the evolving humanitarian situation and consider immediate and strategic responses
• Ensure all humanitarian projects adhere to international standards and FCA’s systems and procedures.
• Ensure that project implementation meets back donor compliance requirements
• Assist the Program Coordinator in collaborative stakeholders’ management involving relevant authorities in planning and implementation of FCA’s humanitarian activities.
• Participate in the planning of FCA’s humanitarian projects in the region.
• Assist the Program Coordinator to ensure that relief activities lead and contribute to the early and long-term recovery of affected populations.
• Ensure FCA humanitarian projects promote respect for international humanitarian law and human rights law.
• Undertakes other duties as designated

Person Specification, Essential Qualifications, Experience and Competences
• Bachelor Degree in Humanitarian studies, Development studies, Social sciences, Project Management or related field
• Minimum 3 years professional experience in the field.
• Good understanding of humanitarian Aid standards
• Strong project management skills and knowledge of appropriate project management tools.
• Experienced in the field with other organizations working in humanitarian or development contexts
• Experience in Disaster response interventions and humanitarian emergencies
• Experience of establishing strong working relationships with partners
• Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
• Experience in working with refugees and host communities
• Experienced in proactively identifying and addressing issues.
• Ability to work on own initiative.
• Interpersonal and cross-cultural sensitivity and experience
