Odzala-Kokoua National Park is managed by the Odzala Foundation - a partnership between African Parks and the Congolese Government. It is situated in the heart of the world's second largest tropical rainforest, second only to the Amazon, lies a vast expanse of protected frontier forest, Odzala-Kokoua National Park. Situated in the north-west of the Republic of Congo, this 13,546 km2 of pristine wilderness is home to the incredible biological diversity that is characteristic of such an extraordinary and complex ecosystem. The Odzala Kokoua park is financed by various donors, including the European Union and WWF Netherlands. The financial controller must be the custodian of the petty cash at the park. The FC will be responsible for all payments from the petty, including the recording of those payments, as well as donor reporting, monthly reporting, pay roll, employee contracts, and more.

Company Profile | In November 2010 African Parks (AP) signed a partnership agreement with the Ministry of Sustainable Development of the Republic of Congo for the management and financing of the OKNP National Park. Management of the park will be the responsibility of a new legal entity, the “OKNP Foundation” (OKF), which has a board of directors made up of representatives from AP, RAPAC (a key donor), the Government, Leadership Conservation for Africa, and local communities. The management agreement runs for an initial term of 25 years, with an option to renew. Overall, it is envisaged that OKF will have full, delegated authority to manage OKNP. OKNP covers an area of 1,365,000 hectares and is situated within the heart of the rainforest of the Congo basin. The outstanding conservation values of OKNP include the presence of more than 100 saline clearings, one of the largest populations of lowland gorillas and forest elephants in Central Africa, and possibly one of the last refuges of lion in the forest massif of Central Africa. The long-term vision for OKNP is a follows: “To restore, develop and manage OKNP National Park as a functioning forest and savannah ecosystem, through proper protection from poaching, sound conservation practices and tourism & other revenue development - thereby creating additional economic benefit." |

Job Description | The Odzala Kokoua park is financed by various donors, including the European Union and WWF Netherlands. The financial controller is responsible for the following: • Custodian of the petty cash at the park. The FC will be responsible for all payments from the petty, including the recording of those payments • Ensuring that all expenses incurred and payments made by the park are in accordance with EU regulations • Drawing up employment contracts, preparing the monthly payroll, keeping track of all staff advances and approving final payouts • Responsible for the banking and treasury functions for bank accounts held in Brazzaville • Recording of all banks, petty cash, payroll, general journals, donor income into the pastel partner accounting • Monthly reporting to head office • Periodic reporting to donors • Preparation of tenders documents, communication with both EU and group auditors and overall responsibility of the audit processes • Assisting the park manager in adhoc duties, including: prepration of board papers, attendance and presentations at board meetings and others • Supervise the existing book keeper |
