Unity State, South Sudan - Program Manager, Nutrition will serve as a key member of the nutrition team and fully participate in key decision making for the program. The primary responsibilities of this position are to supervise and manage the nutrition program—Blanket Supplemental Feeding Program (BSFP) and Targeted Supplemental Feeding Program (TSFP)—at field level as well as provide technical support to the food security team. Additional functions include participation in nutrition interventions, accurate reporting, developing necessary contacts and relationships, leading the development of strategies, and managing existing programs and resources. This person will also provide day to day supervision, management and training to a team of nutrition staff (BSFP and TSFP) and technical oversight of food security programming—General Food Distribution (GFD).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee all programmatic aspects of the WFP Nutrition (BSFP and TSFP) program and provide technical support to the Food Security Program (GFD); ensuring that all interventions are implemented to the highest standards. • Maintain relationships with all local health partners. • Lead capacity strengthening and program oversight. • Focal point person for program planning, reporting and accountability, in relation to WFP nutrition programs. • Liaise with the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team for adequate monitoring and evaluation of all health and nutrition programs. • Provide technical support to projects designed to improve nutritional status of vulnerable populations. • Provide technical support to nutritional assessment activities, including sound sampling methodologies, data collection and management systems, and reporting formats. • Review relevant reports to Donors to ensure technical debates are well articulated and reports are of acceptable quality before submission. • Provide technical training requirements for WFP nutrition staff and identify external support where necessary. • Promote inter-agency and inter-sectoral coordination while representing Samaritan’s Purse at relevant meetings and working groups. • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers. • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public. • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ. • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, or Nutrition required. Advanced University Degree (M.Sc./B.Sc.) in Nursing, Public Health or Nutrition; highly preferred. • One year of college-level Biblical studies is preferred. • Two years as a manager or coordinator specifically related to nutrition programming. • Experience in food assistance programming specifically WFP programs highly preferred. • Experience conducting nutrition surveys including: planning, sampling, training, data collection, supervision, data cleaning, analysis, reporting and dissemination. • Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines. • Methodical and thorough familiarity with SMART method, including software application with plausibility checks and software application (ENA-Epi/ ENA-SMART, or EpiInfo). • Experience in use and interpretation of World Health Organization (WHO) child growth standards. • Arabic language skills preferred but not required.
12 month contract with the potential for renewal.
