Program Statement The Global Environment Program (GEP) is one of SIDO programs working in different countries and regions to promote the intervention of environment and natural resource management related to the degradation, climate change, biodiversity conservation, forestry, fisheries and agriculture irrigation, environmental destruction, exposing and confronting all types of environmental abuse includes the entry of hazardous waste imports and radioactive shipments, campaigning against destructive illegal logging, stopping polluting technologies like waste incinerators and coal power plants, promoting sustainable agriculture, community renewable energy (such as hydro, wind, solar and biogas energy) and necessary solutions to key environmental problems reaching the livelihoods, livestock, environment, natural resources and biodiversity conservation with human and animal - being whereas the landscape is one of the biologically richest places on the planet; its varied natural resources support the livelihoods and well-being of millions of people in a variety of mainland, maritime and airs, coastal zones. It is working to conserve the region’s biodiversity and build a secure and sustainable future for people and wildlife.
Main GEP Goals are to improve opportunities for researches and intervention approaching income generation, increased access to environment, climate change, education and improved access to healthy livelihoods. It focuses on long-term sustainability of program activities, recognizing the importance of business models and local ownership, as well as the enhancement of gender equality and community resilience to Climate Change Adaptation and the Interventions of Renewable Energy. It eventually aims on reducing the scope and severity of three major global environmental problems: 1) Dramatic changes to the Earth’s climate brought about by the increasing concentration of greenhouse gases in the planet’s atmosphere, 2) The erosion of large wilderness ecosystems that contain a great part of the world’s remaining biodiversity, and 3) The destruction of the world’s marine environment.
SIDO - GEP is seeking to recruit well-qualified and experienced candidates for the position of a Chief of Party. The CoP supports the Country Directors (CD) by leading the operations both program, budgeting and finance, project quality & compliance and project team so as to ensure the effective and efficient project implementation of organization to fulfill the Strategic Objectives of GEP Strategic Plan, the Network Standards of GEP International, policies and procedures.
Position Summary The CoP will lead, coordinate and manage the expected work of the initiatives and the Fields of intervention Energy efficiency to has been developed in public buildings (medical centres, schools, community rooms, mosques, etc.), and in private housing, through insulation and alternative techniques (passive solar houses, solar wall, direct gain and other renewable energies). Rural development projects implemented, deal with the development of agricultural income-generating activities, the improvement of rural productive activities, and capacity-building for local institutions. In these sectors, GEP has been developing tools such as: improved greenhouses, post-harvest cellars. It is planning to extend its activities in the targeted groups and locations as said in the project approved document, and if possible to other locations where security situation is acceptable enough to set up a base.
