Microcredit & Cooperatives Training Program for SZHC Target Groups

Objective
1) To carry out program research for suitable training plan on ‘Microcredit & Cooperatives – Income Generation Methods’ for SZHC Fufu, Suli and Chiboli villagers
2) To design a 10-month training plan and programme components on ‘Microcredit & Cooperatives – Income Generation Methods’ for Fufu, Suli and Chiboli villagers in Chamwino District for implementation in 2015.
3) To carry out 4 training sessions on ‘Introduction to Microcredit Systems and Cooperatives’ to SZHC villages – Fufu, Suli, Chiboli and Champumba
Project Background
The Saemaul Zero Hunger Communities project is a World Food Programme pilot project implemented by Good Neighbors International and regional local government authorities, and funded by the Government of the Republic of Korea. The project started implementation in Chamwino District (Fufu, Suli and Chiboli villages), Dodoma region, Tanzania in early 2014.
Terms and Final Product
1. To consult key partners (District Council departments and officials, WFP Programme Officers, target communities’ households, the elderly, village leaders, women and youth) in collecting and analyzing information on market systems in SZHC project areas, and community understanding levels of microcredit, income generation methods and cooperatives.
2. To identify constraints in the promotion of marketing and business methods; suggest ways and opportunities for improving and promoting the business environment,
3. To ascertain the present socio-economic status (food secure families, income status, access to credit, markets, etc.) of the target groups
4. To propose strategic options (technological approaches, partnerships and socio-economic considerations) for achieving accelerated income generation in the target communities
5. To design and finalize a 10-month training plan and programme component on ‘Microcredit & Cooperatives – Income Generation Methods’ for Fufu, Suli and Chiboli villagers in Chamwino District for implementation in 2015.
6. To carry out 4 training sessions on ‘Introduction to Microcredit Systems and Cooperatives’ to SZHC villages – Fufu, Suli, Chiboli and Champumba
Duration of the Mission
GOOD NEIGHBORS TANZANIA expects that the mission should cover 30 days of work from 10 November 2014 to be completed by 20 December, 2014, with the last week for conducting of training sessions on microcredits and cooperatives.
