The DFID-funded Education Quality Improvement Programme in Tanzania (EQUIP-T) aims to support 36 districts in their efforts to produce a better quality of primary education for more than two million children in over 3700 primary schools.

Job Description
- Coordinate and line manage the Regional team and support key stakeholders to improve learning and performance of pupils at all levels of primary education
- Ensure effective information flows between the Region and Headquarters
- Maintain a clear vision of the best focus and timing of EQUIP-Tanzania assistance
- Engage with government at Regional and Council levels and ensure that all the components of EQUIP-Tanzania are in line with Regional and National government priorities
- Generate synergies between EQUIP-Tanzania and other relevant technical assistance programmes in Tanzania to coordinate efforts
and approaches, and maximise impact - Monitor the effectiveness of the programme interventions within the Region
- In consultation with the Region and EQUIP-Tanzania senior management, periodically review and agree objectives and targets for activities
- Identify areas for technical assistance and draw up and report on rolling quarterly work plans and monthly consultancy schedules for the Region
- Agree work plans and technical assistance input schedules with the Regional counterparts and EQUIP-Tanzania management
- Manage EQUIP-Tanzania-funded activities in the Region as per agreed work plans
- Manage the EQUIP-Tanzania office and personnel in the Region, and oversee office management and financial systems in line with EQUIP-Tanzania procedures
- Provide oversight, briefing and debriefing of consultants working in the Region and organisational support to facilitate their work
- Oversee regional payments through M-Pesa administration process
- Convene and report on regular EQUIP-Tanzania Regional team meetings
- Quality assure consultants ’ and service provider reports to ensure that they fully address relevant issues
- Assist the EQUIP-Tanzania programme senior managers in compiling quarterly and annual reports
Candidate Specification
Knowledge, essential competencies, skills and qualifications:
- Degree in educational planning, teacher education or relevant field
- Experience in project management, and of leading teams
- Experience of administration systems, reporting and large volumes of data
- Experience of financial administration and cash management
- Communications and inter-personal skills and gender sensitivity, for effective management
- Experience working with government bodies at a Regional or national level
