Major function of the job
To manage the Aerodromes and Ground Aids Section in order to provide effective and efficient safety oversight of Aerodromes, Ground Aids airport, buildings and structures in compliance with national and international standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
To advise the Director Safety Regulation on all matters relating to Aerodromes and Ground Aids activities
To develop annual budgets for the Aerodromes and Ground Aids section and ensure effective utilization of allocated resources
To determine training requirements of Aerodromes and Ground Aids Inspectors
To develop schedules of safety oversight inspections for aerodromes, ground aids, buildings and structures.
To regulate and carry out surveillance of aerodromes for compliance with the appropriate legislation operational requirement and procedures
To oversee the processes of applications licenses, certification and surveillance of aerodromes
To carry out periodical surveillance of aerodrome facilities, equipment, installations and services
To review proposals and engineering designs for construction of aerodromes and sitting of navigation aids in line with regulatory requirements
To perform any other related duties as assigned by the Director Safety Regulation
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Holder of a Bachelor degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering and registered by the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Professional Engineer and at least (8) eight years experience in the field of pavements, building and structures or electrical systems (5) five years of which should be in a senior position. Masters degree will be an added advantage
