Aiport / Aviation Project Manager - Eastern Africa
For supervision Consultancy for the Extension of International Aiport in East Africa, Egis is looking for a Project Manager.
Project description:
The general requirement is to provide consultancy services relating to the extension of an International Airport.
The scope of the consultancy services includes:
- Design reviews
- Project and Construction Management
- Site supervision
- Full operational readiness until commencement of commercial operations at the new Terminal.
The Employer requires the consultant to act as:
- a technical advisor in all matters relating to the administration and management of the construction contract including planning and managing of all the aeronautical and operational readiness activities that the Employer and the various stakeholders will be responsible for.
- an aviation specialist advisor in all matters associated with procurement of all operational items and services, including air space planning, aircraft approach and take-off procedures, operational safety case, etc, which are currently outside the scope of the construction contract.
The consultancy services required for the project related to the design review services, concerns the “Design Enhancements” to be undertaken by the Contractor. They are the following:
1. Review all the developed design and working drawings prepared by the contractor for compliance with specified standards and project requirements including regulatory, functional, and operational compliance.
2. Ensure that any design development and construction information prepared by the contractor is complete and adequate for the desired development of the proposed new airport facilities.
3. Assist the Employer and the stakeholders by carrying out the necessary technical and financial analysis for any alternative proposals submitted by the contractor in order to enable an informed decision
4. Undertake a complete evaluation and approval of all the full design proposals developed for specific functions and operations (Instrument Landing System (ILS), Air Traffic Control Equipment, Flight Information Display System (FIDS), etc.), including any necessary technical and financial analysis, and liaise with the Employer and the appropriate stakeholders to enable an informed decision for approvals to the contractor.
5. Review, all the contractor's proposals, including those proposals that are alternative to the Reference Design, in a very efficient and proactive way so as to avoid any potential delay in completing the design.
Prepare and submit to the Employer a Design Review Report for each respective project element, item or system.
Profile description:
Egis is looking for a Project Manager – To ultimately be responsible for the delivery of the consultancy services.
He must be degree qualified and a Registered Professional or Chartered or equivalent Civil Engineer with not less than 20 years of cumulative experience with a significant experience in airport and aviation projects including the management of design and construction of airport works and operation of airport facilities.
Also must be conversant with aerodrome regulatory requirements and standards including ICAO and IATA.
He must be a senior member of the consultant's staff and is expected to take on the role of the Engineer for the construction contract.
He/she will be required to act as a professional advisor to the Client on all aspects of the proposed new airport development through the process of design reviews, construction and implementation of the project including procurement of operational items, testing, commissioning, operational readiness and commencing operations.
English, Arabic (will be a plus)
Duration of the mission will be 46 months (expected date of commencement : 06/2014)
