Key Accountabilities
Your responsibility during the IGDP is to acquire the necessary skills, experience and behaviours, through your placements, to enable you to take on a position at the end of the two year programme.
Your placements will be structured to give you the opportunity to develop a range of competencies across generalist and specialist areas to include:-
- Operations: Providing professional advice to well defined/less complex areas of the business under the supervision of a more experienced HR Business Partner or professional
- Shared Services: Providing administrative support to HR professionals across a range of activities e.g. progressions, promotions, new hires, APR.
- Reward: Providing process support for AIS/ ASR, salary surveys, ad hoc reporting, flexible benefits.
- Organisational Development: Learning, Development, Talent Management, Job Accountabilities etc.
- Recruitment and Selection: Supporting process from resource identification, application management, interviewing, selection etc.
A key aspect of being a successful HR practitioner is to understand all component areas of HR. Placements are structured to provide a foundation across HR Operations both in Group and Asset locations, Resourcing, Organisational Development and Reward and other areas as project opportunities arise.
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Minimum qualification: 2:1 Bachelors Degree
The following subjects are considered most relevant: HR Management, Business Studies, Economics, International Business, Management Studies, Business Administration.
Just as important as your academic qualifications, however, will be the personal, professional and business skills you bring.
- You will need to exhibit strong collaborative behaviours and the confidence to lead cross-functional teams to drive the best business outcomes for BG
- Ability to understand and interpret HR issues
- You will need to demonstrate commercial edge, and at the same time, a strong ethical awareness.
- You will need to be highly organised, managing a challenging workload and employing an analytical approach.
- You will need a keen eye for detail and must be comfortable writing reports and giving presentations.
- Fluency in English is a must; given that we are a global business a second or third language is highly desirable.
Since at least one or more of your placements will be based overseas, you must be prepared to live and work away from home for extended periods. You must also have the confidence, influence, and cultural sensitivity to make the most of this opportunity. You are expected to build internal and external networks amongst peers and BG colleagues across functions and countries.
