WWF Policy Programme Officer

The WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), an international conservation organization, is seeking for a competent and highly motivated Policy Programme Officer.

Specific Tasks

The Policy Programme Officer (PPO) will support and advise the Conservation Manager of TCO and his/her team in developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy for strengthening policies and institutions managing natural resources at all levels (national, regional, district, local and community) with all sectors of society (Government, civil society, the private sector). More specifically, the PPO will provide support and advisory services relating to governance processes, policy, institutional strengthening, engagement of civil society and the private sector. Finally, the PPO will support the TCOin the implementation of its Country Action Plan (CAP) which is part of the WWF ESARPO and Coastal East Africa Global Initiatives (CEA GI) strategies.

Required Qualifications and Skills

An advanced university degree in an appropriate field (conservation /environment/natural resource management/marine/forest / freshwater/ terrestrial ecology). Additional academic training or a degree in a management field would be a strong asset; More than five (5) years of experience in the field, of which at least five years of experience leading, developing, and managing programmes /large-scale projects in one or more of the above-mentioned fields. Experience with multi-disciplinary teams, as well as in Tanzania, would be a strong asset.

Knowledge of and experience with monitoring and evaluation of programmes /projects; and Knowledge of the institutional and legal framework of the environment and conservation in Tanzania, as well as of relevant policy issues.
