The Millennium Villages Project is a new bottom-up and integrated approach to lifting developing country villages out of the poverty trap that afflicts more than a billion people worldwide. The Millennium Villages’ team of experts in agriculture, nutrition and health, economics, energy, water, infrastructure, environment and information technology is working with local communities and governments to apply a scientific, proven, holistic package of interventions to help villages rise out of extreme poverty and meet the universal MDGs. The MVP is implemented by the Millennium Promise Alliance and supported by the MDG Centre in Nairobi, Earth Institute at Columbia University (USA) and United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
Organizational Context: Under the guidance and supervision of the Health Coordinator, the HIV/AIDS & TB Facilitator will support the provision of strategic and technical information for the implementation of HIV/AIDS, TB and Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) activities in the Mbola Millennium Villages Project.
Brief Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan activities to manage & reduce incidence of HIV/AIDS & TB and promote Sexual Reproductive Health in Mbola(SRH)
- Lead monitoring and evaluating of HIV/TB & SRH activities
- Help build alliances between NGO partners
- Ensure that all HIV/TB and SRH documentation is accurate and up to date, including partner notification, testing and treatment records
- Ensure accessibility to and provide education HIV, TB and SRH services
- Provide project administrative support
- Support knowledge building and sharing
Education:
- A first degree in BSc Nursing, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Clinical Medicine from reputable university and with working experience of more than 5 years in HIV/AIDS and TB or any relevant field of study.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years of experience desired in areas of public health, sexual health, or sexuality.
- Experience in planning, providing and coordinating sexual and reproductive health projects and trainings a plus.
- Current knowledge in the field of HIV/AIDS, TB and maternal newborn and child health including antenatal care, family planning, PMTCT, and emergency maternal and newborn care, etc.
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation and data collection.
- Ability to develop BCC materials.
- Must have a good understanding of youth sexuality/ teenage sexual development, and a good knowledge of sexual health issues.
- Experience working in both hospital and community settings is an advantage.
- Must have good inter-personal working skills.
- Must be innovative with good analytical and report writing skills.
- She or he must be willing to work in rural/remote areas within the project area.
- She or he must be dynamic, creative, and self-motivated person.
- Must be computer literate.
- She or he must be willing to work in rural/remote areas in the project area.
Location: Mbola Field Office in Uyui District, Tabora Region Type of Contract: Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) from UNOPS. Standard Duration is six months with possibility of extension based on performance.
