Director of field programs

Chemonics seeks a director of field programs for the anticipated USAID's funded single award indefinite quantity contract for the Commodity Procurement and Supply Chain Assistance project to perform a key leadership and management role. This project will provide a comprehensive array of services for U.S. government health commodity procurement and related supply chain assistance. It will be the primary vehicle through which USAID will procure and provide health commodities to partner countries and provide technical assistance to improve countries' management of the supply chain for such commodities. The project will consolidate the procurement and assistance components of the current USAID DELIVER and Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) programs, which support U.S. government global health initiatives in HIV/AIDS, malaria, maternal and child health, and reproductive health. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide technical assistance aimed at strengthening supply chain management systems in developing countries
• Support country portfolio teams and in-country teams in the development and implementation of technical activities, ensuring their adequate contribution to capacity building results
• Responsible for the adequate deployment of capacity-building tools and frameworks and their adequate customization and ownership at the country level
• Work closely with country portfolio teams and national stakeholders to ensure that technical assistance activities are adequately effective and that deliverables are meeting quality standards
• Support the measurement and documentation of portfolio results

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in health-related discipline required
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical systems, supply chain management, or pharmaceutical services 
• Minimum​ of seven years of experience implementing international public health programs in the areas of reproductive health, maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, malaria, and TB in developing countries
• Experience with programs supported by bilateral agencies, such as USAID, and other international agencies, such as the World Health Organization and the World Bank 
• Experience in managing technical specialists
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills; and proven diplomatic and public relations skills in a variety of cultural settings
• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity​​​
• Fluency in written and spoken English required; proficiency in a foreign language of USAID-supported countries desirable; knowledge of French, Spanish, or Portuguese preferred
