AWF is seeking a talented individual to ensure effective financial record keeping in the Manyara Conservancy. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining records of financial transactions by establishing accounts and posting transactions to ensure an official track of project spending, filing and accurate trail of all the outgoings.
Key responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for maintaining records of financial transactions by establishing accounts and posting transactions to ensure an official track of project spending, filing and accurate trail of all the outgoings. Operationally, the successful candidate will process sales invoices, receipts and payments to ensure correct amount receivable are billed and consistently follow up with customers to verify that payments are done according to the sale agreement. Keep track of conservancy accounts receivable and payables, maintain a record in the books of accounts by posting detailed entries in the journal and general ledger regularly, complete VAT returns, check company bank statements, deal with financial paperwork and filing, support supervisor in implementing bookkeeping policies and procedures, maintain accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions, maintain general ledger, balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance; and reconciling entries, assist in payroll management-filling payroll returns, assist in producing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and assist in internal and external audit. S/he will comply with local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising supervisor on needed actions and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
The successful candidate will:
- Have at least 2 years’ experience in a busy finance office preferably an NGO.
- Have experience in use of spreadsheets; knowledge of any accounting system is an added advantage.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Have the ability to work as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
- Have the ability to pay attention to detail and follow instructions.
- Be organized and have initiative.
- Be easy to train and willing to learn.
- Have very good communication (spoken and written) skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in English and Kiswahili.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment.
- Show sensitivity and respect for diversity essential for maintaining working relationships with institutional officials and vendors.
