Lumwana Mining Company is wholly owned by Barrick Gold Corporation and operates one of the largest new copper mines to be developed globally over the last decade. The mine requires a self-motivated Senior Maintenance Planning Supervisor for the Ancillary Equipment section to provide an efficient and effective Maintenance Planning function to the relevant Maintenance Service section.
Responsibilities will include:
- Compliance with OH&S practices and procedures as outlined in company Health & Safety policies and standards
- Assign, coordinate and manage resources for completion of shutdown/overhaul and weekly maintenance, minor capital projects and plant support service.
- Prepare and provide Long Term Forecasts identifying the Manpower, Component and Parts requirement.
- Create, develop and manage weekly, Equipment Overhaul and Shutdown Plans and assist with the scheduling using MS Project 2007/10
- Manage work priorities for the Planning section and activities taken are in accordance with business needs
- Ensure all Planned Maintenance (PM) activities are fully specified and recorded in CMMS
- Manage and ensure that the Data entered into Pronto from maintenance sections is accurate to maintain data integrity.
- Update and Maintain PM Tasks, Service Specifications and the uploading of Standard Job Procedures
- Mentor and coach fellow team members
- Active involvement in training and transfer of knowledge and skills to the national workforce as in line with Succession Planning
- Prepare weekly and monthly Maintenance Department reports on section activities.
Skills & Abilities
The successful applicant must have the following qualifications/skills:
- 10 years’ experience in planning and scheduling
- 5 years in a planning Supervisory position preferably with an ancillary focus.
- A recognised mechanical or electrical technical certificate / diploma
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of Mobile Maintenance Management and Practices
- Experience in the use of a recognized CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) preferably PRONTO
- Demonstrated good record and Time keeping skills
- Advanced Computer knowledge in the MS Office Suite
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Project
