Tanzania Horticultural, Association (TAHA) is an apex private sector member based organization mandated 5 develop and promote horticulture (flowers, fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs and horticultural seeds) in Tanzania. TAHA's goal is to improve the growth and competitiveness of horticultural industry in the country for social and economic gains. TAHA is a strong voice, representing farmers at all levels, processors, exporters and service providers in the horticultural industry in Tanzania. The Association is looking for a dynamic and experienced Tanzanians to fill vacancies in Zanzibar. The chosen candidates will be stationed at the TAHA office in Zanzibar.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate the implementation of TAHA's project activities and make sure that they align with the association's strategic objectives of providing professional services to TAHA's member and the wider horticultural industry.
Take overall responsibility for the development, management, administration, monitoring & evaluation and reporting of the project activities
Develop work plans for awarded projects and create the tools for project execution and management
Empowering farmers with technical skills through business oriented extension services
Collaborating with Business Development Officer in connecting farmers with reliable and sustainable markets
Preparing and coordinating technical training programs, farmer field days, workshops, exchange visits and other farmers networking events
Working with the Policy Department in the advocating for horticultural farmers interests in the project area Connecting TAHA members in Zanzibar and ensure any emerging issues are addressed
Maintaining solid relations with stakeholders and external parties, including development partners, the Government of Tanzania, and other business partners.
Prepare monthly and quarterly project implementation plans, budgets and reports Provide Monitoring & Evaluation Manager with relevant information for reporting
Qualifications and Experience
At least 3 years experience in implementing and managing donor funded projects. Experience in managing agriculture projects will be an added advantage;
A degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or Agriculture Extension. A postgraduate qualification will be an advantage but not compulsory;
Ability to design, implement and monitor independent projects (Project Management).
Demonstrated ability to coordinate small scale farmers groups and work with the Government in implementing project activities Strong analytical, communication and facilitation skills.
Strong interest in and passion for developing collaborative working relationships between Public and Private Sector. Good understanding of the Social-cultural issues of the Morogoro region
Experience working for a member-based association will be an added advantage
A valid driving license required as considerable field work is involved.
