The Organisation Projects do not get much more exciting than our exploration and appraisal drilling campaign in East Africa. Position Summary Responsible for the Asset’s management and financial reporting and will ensure that the Head of Finance East Africa and asset Leadership team are provided with robust financial information to enable effective control and decision making. This role exists to coordinate the activities of Accounting and Finance operations within the asset (Treasury; Accounts Payable; Management reporting; JV accounting and reporting; regulatory compliance, Tax etc). This is done in such a manner that the asset’s financial reports and other output are of the form to meet the requirements of both internal stakeholders (e.g. Group Finance and external stakeholders (e.g. KRA, MEM, External Auditors, JV Partners etc).

Key Accountabilities Coordinate and manage the accounting process to ensure that all financial transactions are completely and accurately captured in the Asset’s books. In conjunction with other members of the East Africa Finance team, develop, manage and ensure policies and procedures are compliant with BG groups internal controls framework. Assist with the Governance self-assessment process for the asset. Assist with the finance quarterly risk register process Continually review asset accounting and reporting structure and where necessary propose, and implement improvements. Provide guidance to the Accounts Payable team, requisitioners and other users of the computing systems on best practices to be adopted which enhance the quality of financial information in the system. Take responsibility for meeting all Group reporting requirements from the asset, ensuring that all output from the asset are of the highest standard and submitted on time. Lead internal and JV partner audits as they relate to asset financial and management accounting and reporting. In conjunction with other members of the Finance team and as appropriate provide direction and assurance to the Asset Leadership Team of BG Kenya, compliance with all the financial reporting requirements of Group, PSC, JOA and any other stakeholders. Provide financial support and input to Investment papers and advice to the Asset Leadership Team on papers going to the various BG committees. Provide financial input as requested into the regular Asset reporting forums preparing presentations where necessary such as Fincom and OPC. Champion the implementation of performance systems/metrics that monitor financial performance against internal and partner budgets. Support the Head of Finance with forecasts and business plans to support the Group processes Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute Qualified accountant Work experience within the Oil and gas upstream industry Appreciation for PSC operating environments Motivated and able to continuously improve accounting procedures Knowledge of Accounting System (SAP) Educated to degree level or equivalent Fluent in the English language is essential. The incumbent will need to be self aware and be able to grow and extend their influence at all levels. Networking is of high importance, particularly in developing relationships with asset team members, contractors and suppliers and other business partners. This individual will be result orientated, with a commitment to quality and timely delivery.
