Main duties and responsibilities
- Helping to prepare, develop, organize, coordinate and ensure implementation of actions plans and implement program and activities of the ECOSOCC Secretariat;
- Helping to monitor and support the process of ECOSOCC linkages with the AU Commission and policy organs, other component of AU, governance and development agencies in Africa and counterpart agencies of ECOSOCC in other regional bodies;
- Coordinating support of ECOSOCC election process;
- Coordinating the implementation of the Sectorial Cluster of ECOSOCC;
- Coordinating basic research or monitoring and follow-up of decisions on the ECOSOCC including Desk Operations;
- Helping in the organization of meetings, conferences, consultations with other agencies and partners as required; Participate in planning and preparation of budgets;
- Develop reports, briefs, outlines, speaking notes and papers on crucial and sensitive issues of concern to the Supervisor and/or Secretariat and Directorate;
- Write letters, documents, speeches and other correspondence as required by supervisor;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or other supervisors as designated ;
Educational Qualifications
- A Master's University degree in Social Science.
- Political Science, sociology or other relevant fields.
- In exceptional cases, candidates with a university degree and strong expertise in civil society management combined with adequate policy experience will be considered.
Work experience
Have at least 7 years of post-qualification experience in national, regional or international areas. with special emphasis on policy analysis and civil society matters and concerns.

- Relevant Skills:
- Have excellent drafting skills.
- Fluency in one official AU language.
- Have computer skills.
- Must be able to Work under pressure, particularly as a professional civil servant in a multicultural environment.
- Demonstrate professionalism and ability to undertake studies and analytical skills associated with good decision-making.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Language Requirement:
- Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages.
- Knowledge of one or several other working languages would be an added advantage.
Age Requirement:
Candidates must preferably be between 30 and 45 years old.
Tenure of Appointment:
The appointment will be made on a fixed term contract for a period of three (3) years, of with the first twelve months will be considered as a probationary period. Thereafter, the contract will be for a period of two years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and deliverables.

Remuneration:
Indicative basic salary of US$ 33,619.00 per annum plus other related entitlements e.g. Post adjustment (46% of basic salary), Housing allowance 14,414.40 perineum), education allowance (75% of tuition and other education related expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$7,800.00 per child per annum), etc for internationally recruited staff of the Commission.
