MANAGER SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT
16.1 Principal duties and responsibilities
• Heads the Safety and Environment section;
• Directs and supervises the functions of the section;
• Enforces adherence to safety, health and environmental guidelines;
• Undertakes environmental impact assessments and audits;
• Prepares and coordinates environment management and assist in mine closure plans;
• Coordinates and monitors operations of mines including safety and environmental aspects;
• Analyzes environmental study reports;
• Conducts open performance review and appraisal of
subordinates;
• Develops individual objectives/targets and performance standards as part of the individual performance agreement in consultation with the immediate supervisor; and
• Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
16.2 Professional Qualifications and Experience
Holder of Master of Sciences in Geosciences or in Engineering, Health Science or Environmental Science from a recognized Institution with an experience of 8 years, 3 of which should be in a senior position.
16.3 Competence among others are:-
• Computer literacy is essential;
• Ability to communicate with excellent writing skills;
• Ability to supervise and direct multifunctional professionals.
16.4 Remuneration
According to STAMICO schemes of service in the salary scale of STAMICO - Salary Scale SMC 9.
