MANAGER SMALL SCALE MINING
15.1 Principal duties and responsibilities
• Heads the Small Scale Mining Section;
• Organizes and facilitates targeted training for small scale miners on semi-commercial terms;
• Coordinates geological investigations in order to identify mineral resources for mining;
• Undertakes ore evaluation in the mineral properties of small scale miners and facilitate accessibility to financing institutions;
• Imports and oversees local manufacturing of mining equipment and supplies e.g. explosives, activated carbon and lime;
• Leases and sells equipment, tools and essential supplies to small scale miners and other stakeholders;
• Establishes mineral processing and buying centers to cater for small scale miners;
• Develops individual objectives/targets and performance
standards as part of individual performance agreement in consultation with the immediate supervisor; and
• Performs other duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor.
15.2 Professional Qualifications and Experience
Holder of Master of Science in Geosciences with minimum experience of 8 years 3 of which must have been in a senior position
15.3 Competence among others are:-
• Computer literacy is essential;
• Ability to communicate with excellent writing skills;
• Ability to supervise and direct multifunctional professionals.
15.4 Remuneration
According to STAMICO schemes of service in the salary scale of STAMICO - Salary Scale SMC 9.
