Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) is an Insititute under the Ministry of Transport established by an Act of Parliament No. 22 of 1991. DMI is a specialized Institute for Maritime Education and Training. It develops and produce competent trained and qualified Maritime personnel for World shipping industry.
3.1 LECTURER – SCIENCE MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT – (1 POST)
3.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
• Teaching up to NTA level 8,
• Guides and supervises students in building up their practical and research projects,
• Prepares learning resources and design training exercises for students,
• Conducts consultancy and community services,
• Develop and review existing curriculum,
• Undertakes individual research and participated in scientific/academic congregations,
• Prepares teaching manuals, simulations and case studies for training,
• Coaches junior teaching staff and
• Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the head of the relevant department.
3.1.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Doctorate (PhD) Degree either in Education or Economics, OR
• Master’s Degree either in Education or Economics with teaching experience of at least ten years and have published at least five peer reviewed publications.
3.1.3 REMUNERATION
• Attractive remuneration package in accordance with the Institution’s salary scale PHTS 10 – 12
3.2 ASSISTANT LECTURER– MARINE NAVIGATION DEPARTMENT – (1 POST) RE-ADVERTISED.
3.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teaching up to NTA level 8 (Bachelor Degree),
• Conducts research, seminars and case studies,
• Prepares learning resources for tutorial exercises,
• Carries out consultancy and Community Services under supervision,
• Supervises students project,
• Prepares teaching manual, and
• Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the head of the relevant department.
3.2.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Relevant Masters Degree or Chief Mate or Second Engineer Certificate of Competency.
3.2.3 REMUNERATION
• Attractive remuneration package in accordance with the Institution’s salary scale PHTS 8-9.
