Network/ Systems Engineer , Aga Khan University (AKU)

The Aga Khan University (AKU) is a private, not-for-profit, International University first established in 1983, with 11 teaching sites in 8 countries. It is a non-denominational institution open to all, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, gender or national origin. Since 2001, AKU has offered academic programmes in nursing, medicine and education for and in countries in East Africa. AKU is fully registered in Tanzania by the Tanzania Commission for Universities as Tanzania Institute of Higher Education (TIHE).

AKU-TIHE invites applications for the following positions, based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania:

Reporting to theIT Manager T/HE; The Network/Systems Engineer shall ensure smooth running of T.I.H.E network and systems (Core Servers and applications). Install, setup, and monitor local area network and Wider Area Network (LANIWAN) and systems (Servers). Perform a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training tasks to ensure network (LANIWAN) and Systems (Servers) performance meet company and user requirements. The specific duties will include;

Technical network /system design including equipment configuration

Hardware and software support for systems and active devices in the network

Management of technical and structural facilities

Network /systems performance and measurement management

High level support for problem escalated and resolution

Physical data management (backup media)

Problem Management

Network and systems availability Management

Disaster recovery planning and implementation

Implementation of security policies and other technical directives decided by T.I.H.E management

Other duties as agreed and assigned by IT Manager

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering and related disciplines

Minimum 5 to 7 years work experience at the same level in a wide range of enterprise networked systems such as MS windows 2003/2008, servers and above (Active Directory, Exchange 2003/2007,DHCP, File Service, Print Services); network environment with at least 200 active nodes (computers); worked and managed active network devices such as switches, routers, wireless equipment (on LAN and WAN).

Professional Certifications in Network/Systems Administration, Network/Systems Security

Good communication, interpersonal skills
