CARANA seeks a Chief of Party for an anticipated, multi-year USAID funded trade expansion project in East Africa. Based out of Kenya, the project will facilitate and reduce barriers to the trade of staple foods and other export products within East Africa and between the region and international markets.
Duties:
- Management of all aspects of implementation in meeting the objectives of the contract including technical, administrative, operational, and logistical management of project activities.
- Act as the key liaison between USAID and all other counterparts and regional implementing partners involved with the program to achieve results in trade, export promotion, transport and capacity building of the private sector.
- Serve as the main point of contact between the project, USAID and CARANA HQ.
Qualifications:
- A senior-level professional with at least 10 years of experience successfully working on trade and export promotion, agricultural development, and private sector capacity building projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work and coordinate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including national and local government, local stakeholders, donors, community-based organizations, think tanks and universities, the private sector, project partners and staff; and ability to achieve project results.
- At least 5 years of management experience implementing large-scale trade promotion and agricultural development programs, preferably on USAID funded projects in the region.
- East Africa experience strongly preferred.
- Advanced degree (graduate level: doctorate, master’s, etc.) in relevant field (e.g. economics, business, management, international development, public administration, other social science, etc.)
