African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine, in Tanzania, seeks to employ an HME Mechanic who will report to the HME Superintendent. The core function will be to conduct preventative, corrective and planned maintenance whilst actively responding to unplanned repairs and breakdowns on the trackless equipment fleet. In addition, the incumbent must comply with all Company procedures, laid down rules, regulations and safety standards, whilst maintaining the ABG core values and attaining best industry standards.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Perform field level risk assessments
• Maintenance of all equipment within the mobile equipment fleet, aiming to reduce unplanned maintenance and optimize availability in the underground workshops.
• Overhaul equipment and components in accordance with company policies, procedures, O.E.M. guidelines and industry best practice.
• Identify and analyse premature component / equipment failure utilising root cause Tap Root analysis
• Complete required testing and safety checks on specified equipment as required.
• Attend to breakdowns and complete all necessary fault-finding in a safe and diligent manner.
• Comply with all statutory and legislative requirements.
• Ensure adherence to all safety, health and environmental procedures and guidelines.
• Provide appropriate on-the-job training and mentoring to less experienced personnel.
• Demonstrate by example a high level of housekeeping and environmental awareness with an emphasis on hydrocarbon disposal and management.
• Implementation and execution of all tasks and instructions as instructed by Superiors.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• A mechanical trade certificate, from a recognized and authorized body.
• Completion of a structured and recognized mechanical apprenticeship.

Experience Requirements:
• Complete understanding of diesel engine (Detroit, Mercedes, Duets) construction, maintenance and operation.
• Conversant with torque converter and multi clutch transmission systems and their control.
• Conversant with hydraulic system construction and brake systems on AARD, Fermel, and Sandvik equipment.
• Basic auto electrical knowledge of starter and charging circuits.
• At least 10 years post trade experience as a mobile maintenance artisan, in an underground trackless fleet environment.
• At least 10 experience of underground trackless fleet mining equipment, especially on Sandvik equipment.
• Experienced in skills transfer and team development, in a multi cultural environment.
