The Field Manager, College Organizing will be responsible for managing ONE’s organizing efforts on targeted college and university campuses which includes; a national membership recruitment strategy, student mobilization on targeted campuses in key legislative districts, developing and implementing ONE’s national campaigns around Agriculture and HIV/Aids on college and university campuses, and managing special events such as lectures and guest seminars targeting college members.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit and train college chapter leadership as campaign organizers and advocates at key colleges and universities
- Manage college and university organizing efforts and ONE’s national advocacy campaigns on college campuses
- Develop and implement a strategy to ensure college campus chapters are sustainable
- Implement a strategy to recruit new college ONE members
- Manage college membership lobbying strategy and direct advocacy targeting key members of Congress
- Build relationships with high profile leaders on college campuses and universities in an effort to strengthen ONE’s political networks
- Train, mobilize, and deploy college student volunteers nationwide
- Manage educational efforts targeting college students including; monthly conference calls, newsletters, email blasts, and trainings
SPECIFIC TYPES OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree required and at least 3 years’ experience mobilizing and organizing activists, preferably in a campus and university setting
- Acute political skills and knowledge of how to work on campus and universities
- Strong organizational skills; able to multitask and prioritize a number of projects
- Superior writing and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a team-based, collaborative environment
- Ability to produce under pressure and with tight deadlines
- Ability to work long hours, including some weekends
- Ability to travel (up to 50% of time)
- Genuine passion and interest for ONE's issues and priorities
