The International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO) is the only international and genuinely independent organisation that is the custodian of world wool trade and industry regulations since 1927. Our mission is to confirm wool as the world’s sustainable and accessible premium fibre for use in applications from high end fashion through to healthy and safe interiors. As a member of the IWTO team you will represent and consult the wool industry on an international level regarding all environmental and sustainability topics and continue to develop and implement the industry’s sustainability strategy.
Tasks
- Developing environmental strategies that ensure industry sustainable development;
- Further coordinate the development of the Life Cycle Analysis for wool;
- Leading the implementation of environmental policies and practices within the industry;
- Ensuring the wool industry’s compliance with environmental legislation;
- Identifying, assessing and reducing the wool industry’s environmental risks and financial costs;
- Auditing and reporting on environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies;
- Keeping abreast of environmental legislation and good practice;
- Raising awareness, at all levels of the industry, of the impact of emerging environmental issues, whether legislative or best practice, on corporate, ethical and social responsibility;
- Bidding for and managing the budget related to the field of the wool industry’s environmental credentials;
- Negotiating environmental service agreements and managing associated costs and revenues;
- Managing a diverse group of engineers, scientists and technologists;
- Coordinating public hearings and consultations on environmental matters;
- Managing relations with the IWTO members in regard to environmental and sustainability credentials;
- Presenting and training members at all levels the industry’s environmental issues and responsibilities;
- Attending Conferences to present research results;
- Writing environmental reports;
- Maintaining regular contact with regulatory bodies and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate of environmental engineering with 3 years of work experience, a strong background on Life Cycle Analysis. Familiarity with global and European environmental agencies is essential. An accurate and reliable working style to deliver according to deadlines, good oral and written communications skills in English as well as the abilities to work independently as well as in a team with a service-oriented attitude are also required. A plus would be further knowledge of the wool and textile industry.

The post is ideal for a time agreed consultancy arrangement but could be also be filled through a permanent position subject to negotiation.
