Data Centre Lead & Solutions Architect.
Responsibilities |
The Data Centre Lead and Solutions Architect will report to Manager IT Operations and will be responsible for the planning, implementation and support of all Infrastructures related to data centre. The person must have extensive experience and understanding of network components, servers, storage infrastructure, operating systems and Project Management with strong strategic thinking, consulting mind set and full spectrum of technology understanding. Lead and provide in-depth expertise in the operation of all initiatives related to data centre operations, business continuity planning and disaster recovery solutions. Plan and align capacity requirements (power, cooling, floor/rack space, environment, security, etc.) with respect to datacentre's capabilities and strength. Provide leadership between the technology groups and business units. Ensure direct communications conduit between Information Technology Operations, other IT units and stakeholders for all tasks related to data centre. Facilitate timely identification, escalation, resolution and follow-up for all outstanding issues related to data centre operations and its infrastructure. Enhance, formalize and standardize the business continuity planning process including forecasting and tracking mechanisms across all business units, to facilitate timely accommodation of future recovery requirements & opportunities. Develop, coordinate and maintain comprehensive data centre testing program, to ensure the ability to recover in the event of a disaster. Perform all departmental administrative activities including status reporting, budgeting, strategic planning, expense processing, contracts management, documentation and other activities related to data centre operations and projects Design, plan and implement data centre tier requirements and ensure improvement with time. Work with vendor representatives and operations teams to coordinate, escalate, troubleshoot, and resolve service interruptions as expeditiously as possible. Ensure service levels are met and adverse impacts are kept to a minimum Ensure timely declaration and escalation of unplanned/planned outages, including the associated data collection and reporting. Serve as single point of contact for all issues affecting data centre technical environment, including problem ownership, coordination, and reporting, from information/ detection to resolution. Provide Management with proactive updates on potential customer impacting issues related to data centre equipment (i.e. network issues, site performance, outages, planned maintenance, equipment failures, etc.) Monitor, maintain and ensure that the environmental control and security of the data centre is functioning properly. Maintain and update equipment inventory list and make recommendations to improve these systems. Work with technical teams (network and systems engineers, database team, etc.) to drive significant improvements in automation that promotes a pro-active approach to service availability management. Manage all data centre related projects and ensure these projects are well executed and deliver intended value. Create and maintain operational dashboard and develop/ maintain training manuals, policies, checklists and procedures. Lead data centre consolidation initiative (virtualization, etc.) and establish schedules and procedures to ensure maximum utilization of resources. |
Requirements |
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Engineering with MBA will be preferred.
- Minimum 5 years related Infrastructure background with at least 3 years’ experience as data centre lead or in-charge.
- Related certifications and foundation level ITIL certification would be a definite asset.
- Sound knowledge of Networks, servers, storage infrastructure, operating systems (such as Windows, Linux, Mac, etc.) and exposure to all network devices with command on integrated infrastructure support is compulsory.
- Good working knowledge of major networking components, operating systems, storage infrastructure and computer hardware components is necessary.
- Knowledge and expertise in risk management, configuration management, and disaster recovery is required.
- Must demonstrate excellent problem solving, negotiation and communications skills.
- Must be capable to stay abreast of technological changes in the field of infrastructure.
- Must be capable to design, construct, install, maintain and operate variety of infrastructure systems.
- Proven leadership capability with the ability to foster credibility and trust are required.
- Multi-tasking ability and good judgment with ability to work under pressure.
