The Head of Digital, Higher Education is a new role and has been jointly created by the Corporate Digital team and Education and Society SBU. The Education and Society Strategic Business Unit has set out an ambitious strategic plan for the coming three years, of which a major focus is our work in Higher Education. The postholder will manage the British Council’s global digital services in higher education (HE) and deliver the agreed strategy, ensuring that content and technical platforms are of high quality, meet agreed impact and business targets and align with corporate digital strategy and standards.
We are looking for an outstanding individual who has a background in digital services and experience of multi channel digital engagement and content production, including effective use of social networking and mobile channels. Equally essential is a thorough understanding of higher education.
Terms and Conditions: This post can be in located in the UK or any British Council world wide office. We therefore expect the successful candidate to have the right to work in the UK or the country without restrictions.
If the successful candidate is based in the UK s/he will work from either one of our UK office locations of London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff or Belfast. The salary would be £31,500 per annum plus London Market Allowance of £3,300 per annum (if London based) with 32 days’ annual leave and Civil Service pension arrangements.
If the successful candidate is based outside the UK s/he would have to transfer to a British Council office, details of our overseas office locations can be found on the Home page of our website http://www.britishcouncil.org/ . Further details of the salary and benefits package would be confirmed following the selection process. It is likely that the successful candidate would be offered a local contract.
Relocation costs will not be paid in either case.
