Recruitment at Tanzania Tourist Board - Oct 2014

The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) is a Government organization established under the Tanzania Tourist Board Act, CAP 364, and R.E. 2002 of the Laws of Tanzania. The main functions of the Board include the promotion of Destination Tanzania, encouraging tourism development, and fostering an understanding within Tanzania of the importance and economic benefits of the tourism industry. The Board as an equal opportunity employer is looking for suitably qualified Tanzanian Citizens to fill the following vacancies:-

1) SENIOR MARKETING OFFICER (2 POSTS) Duty Station: Dar es salaam; Iringa

Required qualifications:

Holder of Degree in Business Administration, Marketing and Tourism Management from recognized University/Institution with at least 6 years of proven experience in performing similar duties. Those with post graduate qualifications will have added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities:
(i) To implement the Marketing strategy to promote all aspect of tourism;

(ii) To carry out direct marketing activities in accordance with budgets;

(iii) To manage specific promotional activities which are in accordance with the agreed business plan;

(iv) To maintain knowledge of relevant tourism developments and procedures for each market segment;

(v) To implement the Board’s e-communication and e-relationship marketing activities;

(vi) To organize and lead promotional campaigns for market penetration;

(vii) To provide progress inputs of marketing activities.

(viii) To identify as recommended to the Market Manager, the most cost effective activity for promoting Tanzania;

(ix) To prepare and disseminate correct information on Tanzania tourism to the tourist and other stakeholders;

(x) To perform any other duties as shall be assigned from time to time by the Superior;

Remuneration

A competitive remuneration package commensurate with experiences and qualifications will be provided which is within Tanzania Tourist Board salary scale (TTBS) 6.

2)  MARKETING OFFICER GRADE II (4 POSTS)

Duty Station: Dar es Salaam; Mwanza; Arusha

Required qualifications:

Holder of Degree in Business Administration, Marketing and Tourism Management from recognized University/Institution.

Duties and Responsibilities
(i) To implement specific marketing activities in accordance with agreed budgets;

(ii) To design tourist advertising materials;

(iii) To respond to enquiries from stakeholders and tourists;

(iv) To collect relevant market data from specific market segment areas;

(v) To participate in promotional and direct marketing activities;

(vi) To respond and follow up of marketing enquiries by post, telephone, and personal visits;

(vii) To produce progress reports of specific marketing activities.

(viii) To perform any other duties as shall be assigned from time to time by the Superior.

Remuneration

A competitive remuneration package will be provided which is within Tanzania Tourist Board salary scale (TTBS) 4.

3) RESEARCH AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT OFFICER II (2 POSTS) Duty Station: Dar es Salaam; Arusha

Duties and Responsibilities

Holder of Degree in Tourism Management, Economics, Statistics or its equivalents from a recognized University/Institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

(i) To assist in the development of models for data collection, analysis and interpretation of tourism marketing research findings;

(ii) To assist in the development of tourism database and in-house data bank;

(iii)To monitor the global, region and country tourism development trends and ensure that tourism stakeholders are well informed;

(iv) To enhance general understanding of the general public on matters of tourism;

(v) To assist in the preparation of regular update of reports on tourism marketing research and products development;

(vi) To assist in the planning and organization of tourism development program, project and policies;

(vii) To assist in the identification of new tourism development projects and investments opportunities to be promoted to potential investors;

(viii) To assist in the evaluation of tourism development programs and marketing activities;

(ix) To identify needs of the operators;

(x) To assist in provision of consulting advice to tourism on matters related to tourism product development.

(xi) To perform any other duties as shall be assigned from time to time by the Superior.

4) LEGAL OFFICER GRADE II (1 POST)

Duty Station: Dar es Salaam

Required qualifications

Holder of Degree in Law (LLB) from any recognized University/Institution who has passed a recognized practical legal training or undergone internship programme recognized by the Attorney General. Registration as an Advocate will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities:
(i) To attend all legal cases in the court of law on behalf of the Board;

(ii) To assist in taking charge of documents and correspondences of already assigned cases;

(iii) To assist in dealing with legal routine correspondences addressed to Board;

(iv) To file and appear for proceedings in courts;

(v) To assist in administering compliance to the terms of agreements and contracts to ensure that the Board’s interests are safeguarded;

(vi) To maintain an updated database of court decisions;

(vii) To assist in reviewing Board contracts and agreements;

(viii) To prepare all legal documents for the Board;

(ix) To review legal reports and opinion on matters involving the Board claims for presentation to the senior management meeting;

(x) To interpret legislation and other legal documents;

(xi) To participate in drawing contracts and other legal instruments of the Board;

(xii) To prepare legal opinions, charges and other related documents;

(xiii) To draft and review the Board’s legal procedures;

(xiv) To provide legal advice to all employees of the Board on matters relating to the affairs of the Organization;

(xv) To perform any other duties as shall be assigned from time to time by the Superior.

5) INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER GRADE II (1 POST) Duty Station: Dar es Salaam

Required qualifications:

Holder of BSc. Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent qualification recognized University/Institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:
(i) To provide IT support to staff within the organisation;

(ii) To train staff on the use of technology for different business activities;

(iii) To maintain the hardware facilities;

(iv) To assist in updating the Board’s corporate website, develop the destination portal and manage the Board’s blogs and social media channels;

(v) To update systems documentation standards and procedures;

(vi) To assist in the selection of suitable information and communication facilities;

(vii) To manage and update TTB’s database;

(viii) To prepare user guides on the system for Tanzania Tourist Board staff;

(ix) To perform any other duties as shall be assigned from time to time by the
Superior.

6) ACCOUNTANT GRADE II    (1 POST)

Duty Station: Dar es Salaam

Required qualifications

Holder of Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting from recognized University/Institution. Registration with NBAA will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities:-

(i) To maintain Financial Controls and Accounting records;

(ii) To collect and organize accounting data and financial report (cash books, payment vouchers and receipts);

(iii)To Prepare payroll computation, analysis and recording;

(iv) To carry out monthly bank reconciliation;

(v) To present accounting data in a clear and understandable manner to both technical and non-technical users;

(vi) To perform any other duties as shall be assigned from time to time by the Superior

7) RECORDS MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT II (1 POSTS) Duty Station: Dar es Salaam

Required qualifications:

Holder of Form IV / VI Secondary Certificate plus Certificate / Diploma in Records Management from Tanzania Public Service College.

Duties and Responsibilities:-
(i) To prepare file Index/Register;

(ii) To maintain records/ documents in the registry;

(iii) To file, dispatch and cross check correspondences;

(iv) To maintain diary and records for files movements;

(v) To check and cross check mails, claims and returns;

(vi) To receive previews, record and facilitate filing and distribute to responsible officer;

(vii) To receive and register incoming/outgoing mails.

(viii) To perform any other duties as shall be assigned from time to time by the Superior

8) PERSONAL SECRETARY GRADE II (1 POST)

Duty Station: Dar es Salaam

Required qualifications

Holder of Form IV / VI Secondary Certificate with Secretarial Services Certificate or Diploma from Tanzania Public Service College who passes 80 p.m. shorthand either in Kiswahili or in English, Certificate in computer programs e.g. windows, Microsoft office Internet, E-mail and Publisher. Use of modern office equipment will be a necessary requirement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
(i) To type confidential correspondences/letters, manuscripts, reports and proceedings;

(ii) To cross check the availability of stationery and other working equipment’s for the Section/Division;

(iii) To arrange and maintain a diary of appointments for the executive;

(iv) To monitor movement of files, incoming and outgoing;

(v) To receive all visitors with courtesy and decorum, ascertain the nature of the visitor’s business and relay information to the respective senior officers;

(vi) To receive and direct telephone calls and replaying telephone messages emails and fax messages;

(vii) To organize documents and computer-based information.

(viii) To perform any other duties as shall be assigned from time to time by the
Superior

vi) Academic Certificates from foreign bodies for Ordinary Level Education should be certified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA);
