Mbeya Urban Water and Sewerage Authority (Mbeya UWASA) is an autonomous water supply organization mandated t Provide water and sewerage disposal services within the urban area of mbeya City. It was established in January 1998 under section 3 (1) of Act No.8 of 1997. repelled by Act No. 12 of 2009. It was formally incategory B Authorities and became fully autonomous with effect from 1st July 2001. Being in category A means that he Authority is responsible for meeting all operational cost of the services rendered including replacement and investment costs. In this respect, the activities of Mbeya UWSA have specifically Expanded Mbeya UWSA now invites applications from suitably qualified and skilled individuals who are dynamic and result oriented to fill the following posts:- Sewerage and Environmental Engineer II Purpose and scope The successful candidate will be Head of sewerage and Environmental Section responsible for planning and implementation of an effective environmental and sewerage/sanitation functions in Mbeya City. Duties and Responsibilities • To maintain security of documents and register. • To prepare and supervise a base line house sewerage customer survey in order to get correct sewerage data and information. • To prepare and conduct training programmes for sewerage staff on the use of sewer and safety equipments , such as gas detector, safety belts, oxygen masks, jetting machines, winches and ventilating machines. • To liaise with commercial manager on sewerage revenue follows up. • To ensure that all customers who are provided with sewer services pay their bills without delay. • To recommend a plan for future investment in sewerage system. • To take appropriate action for illegal sewerage cases. • To complile weekly, monthly, quaterly and annual sewerage operations and maintenance. • To manage efficiently and effectively sewerage resources; • To ensure maximum safety measures during sewerage operations, • To design and give details of new works as they may occur/appear. • To maintain all equipments and materials/stock for ponds. • To liase with commercial manager on education and sensitization programs regarding sewerage services. • To perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned by relevant authorities.

Qualification:

• Holder of a Degree/Advanced Diploma in Civil/Sanitary/Environmental/public health engineering.
• Registered as a professional/Technician Engineer with Engineers’ Registration Board of Tanzania.
• Working experience of at least two years as an Engineer in the operation and maintenance of a sewerage network.
• Good written and Communication skills.
• Must be Computer literate with working knowledge of any of engineering Design Application software.
• Master degree/Post Graduate Diploma in: Sanitary/ Environmental/Public Health Engineering is an added advantage
