Main Job Purpose
Collect, collate and present humanitarian information.
Essential Qualifications, skills and experience required:
- Degree level education in a relevant subject
- Substantial and demonstrable practical experience of working in a humanitarian operational environment, ideally experience of working in both a head office and field environment
- Proven experience of providing humanitarian information management and reporting during rapid onset humanitarian crises, including surveying and monitoring key information networks, developing and utilising multiple sources to provide information, and developing information products as appropriate to different audiences.
- Proven research and analytical skills
- Excellent networking and representational skills at all levels, including Government, UN and NGOS
- Exceptional organisational and prioritisation and ability to deal with a varied, demanding, often conflicting and rapidly changing workload.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of humanitarian theory, practice and architecture, humanitarian risk assessment and planning and managing humanitarian responses.
- Reporting officer responsibilities may include:
- Monitoring media and official sources of information to collect crisis data.
- Working with adviser(s) to track emerging trends.
- Maintaining working level contacts with agencies and collecting/sharing information (e.g. embassies, UN, Red Cross, NGOs and DFID personnel).
- Managing electronic and hard copy map resources.
- Producing and managing contact lists of key personnel.
- Maintaining who, what, where databases.
- Maintaining critical information libraries and databases.
- Data storage and retrieval using DFID's electronic filing system
- Preparation of briefing packs for staff.
- Reporting including sitreps, analysis, and briefings, for DFID and CHASE OT management.
- Contributing to Private Office briefings, drafting responses arising from Parliamentary Questions, MP's letters and Public enquiries.
- Preparing and delivering PowerPoint presentations.
- Maintaining and updating information boards.
- Supporting the UK response strategy development
