BASIC FUNCTIONS
The Marketing Manager is responsible for oversight and development of the Marketing Department. S/he is responsible for planning, development, and implementation of FINCA Tanzania marketing strategy, in close collaboration with the Management Board, and the affiliate’s marketing workgroup[1]. The Marketing Manager activities are expected to result in improving FINCA Tanzania brand awareness and improving FINCA Tanzania’s outreach, in line with FINCA Tanzania’s strategic objectives. His/her main domain of activities are A)Marketing Research and Strategy, B)Marketing Communication, C)Customer Relationship Management, and D)Institutional Development of FINCA Tanzania. S/he provides support in other areas, as required.
Key Responsibilities for Marketing Managers
Market Research, Social performance Research and Marketing Strategy - (30%):
- S/he is part of the management team[2], and s/he sets the overall strategy and activities related to market research, marketing communication, and customer relationship management, together with the COO, the CEO, and in consultation with the Marketing Workgroup[1].
- S/he develops an annual marketing plan and multi-year marketing strategies, to be approved by the Management Board and Board of Directors. This plan must contribute to reach FINCA Tanzania’s growth targets and must be in line with FINCA Tanzania’s strategic objectives. S/he is responsible for the implementation of the marketing plan, strategies and activities. S/he reports advancements/bottle-necks to the CEO.
- S/he maintains up-to-date information on major competitors per product. S/he supports branches to build competition analysis at the branch level.
- S/he is responsible for ensuring that the Business Growth Plan is updated with quality Business Count Market Research data.
Marketing Communications - (25%)
- S/he develops a Communications Plan to maintain internal and external lines of communication for effective and beneficial information exchange. S/he prepares and submits written reports to COO on marketing communication activities against the plan.
- S/he identifies strengths and weaknesses Personal Selling and implements tactics to address concerns and maximize strengths. S/he formulates Personal Selling strategy to optimize capacity and resources within FINCA Tanzania. S/he will support HR/Training Manager to design develops and to executes Personal Selling training in the field. She/he is responsible for producing Personal Selling material and delivering it to the branches (brochures, flyers, etc.).
- S/he develops and implements Sales Promotions in line with FINCA Tanzania strategic priorities, in consultation with the Marketing Workgroup and to be approved by the MB (for example, client referral incentives, time-bound interest or fees rebates, special offer for specific segment, etc.).
- S/he plans Direct Marketing activities (including but not limited to community meeting, business meeting, market drive, off-site selling, etc.) for all products and all branches together with branch managers and the marketing workgroup. S/he monitors the execution of these activities and reports bottle-neck to COO. S/he is responsible for producing Direct Marketing material (sales tents, tear drop banner, T-shirts for community meetings,etc.), distributing it to branches, and providing field training about the execution of Direct Marketing activities in branches selected by the COO.
- S/he is responsible for all Advertising of FINCA Tanzania. S/he is responsible for designing mass-media advertising communications and implementing it with local media outlets such as radios, television, and newspapers. S/he is responsible for designing field advertising communication materials such as posters, street-banners, streets signs and installing them at their final destination.
- S/he is responsible for Public Relations, including but not limited to external communications such as briefing papers, speeches, press releases. S/he may be required to present at conferences, meet with influential people (opinion leaders like local leaders, district officials, and regional authorities), and promote FINCA Brand in universities. S/he is responsible for internal communications to strengthen the corporate identity such as FINCA’s Newsletter, field staff training about brand awareness, and team building activities to boost morale and to ensure that teams are active towards achieving branch and growth goals.
Customer Relationship Management – (20%)
- S/he monitors customer service standards & client loyalty through the use of customer service monitoring and evaluation tools
- S/he is responsible to ensure that customer feed-back information is analyzed and reported to the Customer Service Supervisor and to Management.
- S/he will support the HR/Training Manager to design, plans, implements and evaluates customer service trainings for staff, using outputs of the customer service monitoring tools.
Institutional Development &Departmental Management – (20%)[3]
- S/he is responsible so that FINCA Tanzania respects FINCA International and regional branding standards. It includes signing–off on all material using FINCA brand (for example, FINCA shirts, pens, notepads, gifts, signage, etc.). It includes designing the branch physical layout and signage, signing off on the final branch design plan and ensuring it is implemented so that all affiliate branches' appearance comply with FINCA International network branding standards.
- S/he develops and maintains cooperation and relationships with key internal stakeholders (Human Resources Manager, Admin Manager, Training staff, Regional Managers, Branch Managers, Supervisors, and Loan Officers).
- S/he manages the marketing budget and ensure delivery of marketing activities are within the agreed upon budget.
Ideal profile:
- University Degree in marketing or other related field.
- 3 - 5 years of positive results in sales and driving business growth, of which 2-3 years in marketing department preferably in a financial institution or a private sector company.
- Experience in managing a team
- Market research experience required with good analytical skills and organizational skills
- Fluency in English and local language.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including public speaking ability.
- Excellent sales skills, negotiation skills, and presentation skills.
- Excellent Computer literacy.
- Knowledge of systems and tools, including statistical software, for collecting and analyzing market information is preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Availability domestic travel (up to 30%).
