The Position
Aga Khan Hospital is undertaking a project to develop its next phase that will see the development (Phase 2) of a tertiary facility including a comprehensive cardiology programme, oncology services, neurosciences, orthopaedics & trauma, diagnostic imaging, critical care, obstetrics and paediatrics. Construction expected to begin in one year.
Various aspects of the Phase 2 plans will be based on the concept of regional programmes operating on two sites (i.e. AKH-Dar and AKUH-N), and thus will be closely aligned with the recently developed Heart and Cancer Centre of the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi. One of the first regional programmes to be established will be the Cardiac Programme.
The Interventional Cardiologist will work with the Phase 2 project team and other senior colleagues to support the cardiac programme at AKH-Dar with the aim to ensure the delivery of quality service to cardiology patients. S/he will participate in the development of evidence based protocols for cardiac care as part of the AKH-Dar Cardiac Steering Committee and in the implementation of a 'patient centered', Comprehensive Cardiac Programme. S/he should be prepared to take on the role of coordinating this programme and supporting patient through care at both sites as required.
