Scope of work
The Field Program Manager will work under the direct supervision of the National Project Coordinator (NPC), and will be required to execute the following duties:
Assist NPC during the implementation of SFM project.
Prepare Project Performance Implementation and Monitoring Plans based on approved A WPs and Project Document. . Work closely with NPC during the development of Annual work plans and budgets.
Carry out monitoring and evaluation of 'project activities.
Support NPC during the preparation of progress reports stipulated in the project document.
Develop project database and control; maintain the quality and quantity of data captured in the data systems. Develop data collection tools and train field staff on use of the tools.
Liaise with CSOs and Institutions implementing different components of SFM to capture progress, identify solutions to implementation challenges and prepare good success stories to be included in the progress reports.
Work with CSOs and Government Institutions and Communities to review PFM, JFM, NRM and PESpolicies to mainstream SFM principles.
Build capacity of CSOs to enable them to prepare and implement good work plans and budgets and to enable them to monitor progress of planned activities.
Prepare information on lessons learned and best practices that promote sustainable Forest Management for adaptive project management and for scaling up the program.
Coordinate project implementation meetings at field level with partners and stakeholders and document proceedings for these meetings.
Carry out other duties as guided by the NPC.

The position requires: Good understanding of Participatory Forest Management and Joint Forest Management, Good Monitoring and Evaluation skills, Community engagement skills, Sustainable development, Issues on adaptation to climate change, The post will also require significant experience in working with NGOs, governments (both central and LGAs), and the private sector; and working with sub grantees/CSOs.

Qualifications Education
Minimum of a Masters Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or related discipline.
Experience
Good management and co-ordination skills, with experience of technical project implementation with excellent interpersonal skills and good team spirit:
At least 5 years working experience in Forest Management, PFM/JFM. Experience in writing project reports and management plans. Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of Forestry Projects or CBFM
Willingness to participate in field activities/surveys and travel to remote areas within the project areas.
Knowledge in use of computer software packages for word-processing, excel, Access, SPSS, Power Point, Databases and
spreadsheets, internet.
Experience and skills in training and transfer of knowledge. Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
Ability to follow deadlines, accuracy and attention to detail. Good knowledge on conflict resolution and management Good knowledge on climate change.
Good writing skills,
Ability to supervise field activities and travel to remote project area Experience working with NGOs and CSOs.
Ability to work under tight timelines.
Experience in working with Donor funded projects.
Language:
Fluent in spoken and written, both English and Kiswahili is a must.
