AMT SA Operations Manager , Mtwara , Tanzania

For our Tanzanian branches of Mtwara (where the position is located) and Dar Es Salaam, we are currently looking for an Operations Manager:

The role:

• Manage the daily operations and related administrative world of the company (shipping agency, customs clearance, freight forwarding, meet & greet, procurement, bunkering, and any logistics services provided by the company)
• Acquire new and develop existing customers
• Manager and develop new routes and services
• Set and achieve sales, operations and profitability goals
• Train new employees as required
• Take ownership of any issues and initiate solutions
• Manage quality customer service
• Manage insurance, risk, liability, security and safety in international freight transport context
• Efficiency planning and coordination of administrative activities to ensure accurate results
• Manage and follow up ledgers, file opening and closing, file checking as per internal procedures
• Ensuring continuous review and improvements of operational processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Maintaining awareness of the business context and company profitability, including budgetary control issues
• Arrange weekly meetings with staff, or as appropriate, to review overall team / individual performance
• Monitoring KPIs
• Manage staff under supervisions: attract and retain qualified and motivated workforce, encourage new ideas for improvements, evaluate employee performance, handle disciplinary issues and maintain a safe and compliant environment of work
• Comply with all internal Company policies (FCPA, HSE, ETHICS)
• Other operational and administrative duties as required

Desired Skills & Experience

• Bachelor or Master Degree in logistics, or engineering
• At least 3 years of experience in providing services listed above to the Oil & Gas industry
• Must be versed in the IMDG, for containment and transportation of any hazardous materials
• Must have a strong Incoterms, cleaning and forwarding knowledge, all vectors, all regimes, import / export / transit

Preferred skills:

• Must be capable of working unsupervised in a fast-paced environment in a remote area
• Must be detail-oriented, well-organized and able to multi-task
• Must be customer focused, results driven ad able to work as a team manager
• Must be a performer and lead by example, delegate responsibilities effectively
• Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives
• Superior communication skills in English (English as mother tongue is preferred)
• Superior technical skills using MS OFFICE
• Service oriented attitude, desire to serve and collaborate with others, accountable
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is an added value
