PROJECT OFFICER EDUCATION- FIXED TERM CONTRACT (4 positions)
Based in Kwale, Kisumu, Bondo and Homabay Program Units

Plan Kenya is implementing an Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) project called “Securing Strong Foundations for Young Children”. The project strives to ensure that all target children access and achieve their right to quality education and are equipped with the tools that enable them to participate, learn and contribute according to their evolving capacities, to the fullest extent possible. The job holder reports to the Program Coordinator Learning and will provide the overall implementation of the Community Led Action for Children (CLAC) and ensure sensitization of the community about Plan’s new strategy by facilitating appropriate networks. He/she is responsible for the development and execution of the ECCD project outlines and control of budgets and in charge of the designing, implementation, monitoring and reporting on the project activities.
Key responsibilities
• Project implementation in line with budget • Submission of timely and accurate project documents • Regular project implementation updates in the PPM • Active participation in partnerships with CSOs and communities • Preparation, sharing and actualization of work plans in line with the project outlines • Train, supervise and mentor community volunteers in parenting and quality ECCD programs • To participate in implementation of other project outlines within their respective program area • Support documentation of project processes and capturing of good practices
Communications and Working Relationships
The incumbent is expected to maintain a high level of external communication/contact at the Community, Districts and County levels. A medium level of external communication with the INGO and high level of communication with LNGO, CBOs partners in the county is expected as well as a low level of external communication with Plan NOs (sponsorship communications such as AOs and AUs, Grants funded projects)
Educational Qualifications, Skills and Experience
• Degree and/or Diploma in Social Sciences, Community Development Early Childhood Care and Development, Child Psychology or related field • 3 years’ experience in implementing Early Childhood programs • Good interpersonal and relationship skills and experience • Skills in managing project implementation and monitoring is critical • Good communication, negotiation and advocacy skills • Strong report writing skills • Team work skills • Conflict management skills • Networking, partnership development and management skills • Motorbike riding skills. • Fundraising/resource mobilization skills
