It works to empower men, women, and families to break the cycles of physical and spiritual poverty through the provision of loans, savings services, basic business training, mentoring, and discipleship. In its network, HOPE includes traditional microfinance programs, microfinance plus programs, savings-led microfinance programs, and small and medium enterprise development programs.

About the Job:

HOPE International is looking for a Director of Technical Assistance (TA). S/he will be responsible for promoting and fulfilling the mission and vision of HI by leading a set of centers of excellence that provide support and resources to HOPE programs worldwide. S/he will also promote operational excellence and financial success.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Portfolio analysis:
- Provide tools and support for financial modeling and projection of multi-year operating performance, key financial metrics, and staffing projections;
- Provide centralized oversight to ensure consistency of methodology, assumptions, and degree of conservatism/optimism across the HOPE network. Aggregate consolidated projections across the network for presentations to HOPE senior leadership;
- Assists the VP of operations by designing and carrying out a detailed annual planning process to confirm country strategic plans, SI plans, operational objectives and goals, annual funding requirements, TA support required;
- Assist the VP of Operations with worldwide network design;
- Develop strategies for product expansion as HOPE International seeks to expand beyond microlending and savings circle programs.

• Compliance/risk management:
- Help create well-managed MFIs by creating procedures for key operational activities, including cash handling, loan disbursement, financial management, group meeting management, and loan approval;
- Work with the country staff to develop systems to ensure compliance with policies and procedures;
- Assist HI programs by conducting risk self-assessments to identify top risks and design mitigation plans.

• Client training:
- Create and/or source content to further HI clients’ journeys as business owners;
- Partner with the country leadership to ensure high quality delivery across the network, both at the train-the-trainer stage and when rolled out to clients.

• Fraud prevention:
- Establish and oversee a system of policies, procedures, training, controls, and monitoring systems to eliminate fraud within HI's network;
- Partner with country leadership to ensure implementation per policy, compliance to procedures, and robust monitoring and controls.

• Credit risk management:
- Partner with country leadership to create and maintain robust procedures, controls, and monitoring systems to reduce frequency and severity of delinquency and write-offs;
- Create aggregate portfolio reports that capture the network-wide state of credit performance.

Qualifications:
• Qualifying degree in finance, accounting, business administration, international development or similar field of study:
• Minimum 5 years of management/leadership experience and at least 2 years of experience in international development work;
• Skilled leader, with excellent understanding of cross-cultural communications, workplace relationships, and the ability to recruit, relate to and effectively motivate staff;
• Fluent in spoken and written English, with proficiency in one or more additional languages;
• Excellent written, verbal, and computer based communication skills;
• Passion and ability to self-educate regarding microsavings and microlending programs, methodologies and systems.
