AMREF is an independent, non profit , non-governmental organization (NGO) whose mission is “to improve the health of disadvantaged people in Africa as a means for them to escape poverty and improve the quality of their lives”. AMREF has over 500 employees throughout Africa with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. AMREF has offices in Ethiopia, Kenya,Uganda,South Africa and Tanzania. AMREF has thirteen national offices in Europe and North America for liaisons and fundraising. AMREF is therefore seeking to recruit highly qualified, experienced and motivated individuals to fill the following positions:- Re-Advertised Programme Manager-Capacity Building (Dar es Salaam)
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• A masters Degree or PhD in Education and Social Sciences or related field of education.
• Excellent project planning and proposal writing skills.
• At least five(5) years experience providing technical expertise in capacity building and training initiatives
• Strong team leader and player skills.
• Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent networking and organizational skills
• Hard working with analytical skills.
JOB OBJECTIVE:
Provide leadership and support in strengthening the organizational and technical capacity of AMREF Tanzania as an institution, partners/CSOs, local government and health systems to improve quality of care and respond to community health needs.
REPORT TO: DEPUTY COUNTRY DIRECTOR
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• In liaison with TZ SMT , National Offices and programme and project Managers, In identification of opportunities for new programme development and participates in writing concept papers, and proposals on capacity building and training consistent with Government of Tanzania and AMREF Strategies.
• Participate actively in national efforts and forums by Ministry of health and other stakeholders in strengthening human resource capacities including community health workers
• Forge collaboration with development partners and other partners including Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and other relevant ministries in establishing opportunities for engaging CSOs, the private sector and Corporate in capacity building agenda
• Take lead in development and implementation of innovative capacity building agenda at country level by coordinating and supporting AMREF Tanzania projects and programs with design, review and harmonization of training curriculum and materials development in related subject areas.
• Ensures that AMREF projects meet the minimum training standards as stipulated in national policies, Curriculum and guidelines of respective authorities
• Work with Country programmes, projects and other stakeholders analyzing and addressing training needs of health care workers including community health workers.
• Support AMREF programmes and projects in developing training curriculum and packages for MOHSW, CSO and other partners that are relevant to AMREF Strategy.
• Provide technical support to AMREF projects to ensure implementation of high quality and relevant training interventions in projects from which lessons are learned and documented
• Provide technical support to HR Unit in strengthening AMREF technical capacity on identified and priority training needs including documentation , research and advocacy skills as per AMREF business plan and strategic demands
• Promote development, management and supervision and backstopping of AMREF e-Learning programme, Tanzania Library and Information Resource Centre and Heritage
• Work closely with Deputy Country Director to support programme and project staff in generation, documentation of good practices from project processes and outcomes/impacts; and appropriate dissemination of programme results
