Senior Training Officer Welding and Fabrication

SENIOR TRAINING OFFICER WELDING AND FABRICATION 

African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine in Tanzania seeks to appoint an experienced Senior Training Officer Welding and Fabrication. Reporting to the Training Superintendent, the Senior Training Officer Welding and Fabrication will be responsible for the development, implementation, and training of all welding and fabrication courses and make available and assessable to as many people as possible via flexible delivery strategies. The work roster is six weeks on and three weeks off. 

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

• Ensure best practices are used when delivering training courses. 
• Ensure promotion pathways are developed and implemented for our clients. 
• Provide ongoing guidance and development of teaching staff. 
• Provide educational pathways that lead to international qualification. 
• Make courses available and assessable to as many people as possible via flexible delivery strategies. 
• Involve our clients in decision making process to indentify course requirements. 
• Identify a range of evaluation strategies to accommodate individual needs 
• Ensure no promotion bottlenecks are caused by maintenance training 
• Maintain training records for BGM employees attending the MTC. 
• Carry out production maintenance work both on surface and underground as required. 
• Deliver, develop, revise and maintain training courses for the following trades: 
o Boilermaking 
o Welding 


PROFESSIONAL SKILLS 

Education Requirements: 

• A Boilermaker/Welder trade certificate from a recognised training institution. 
• A teaching qualification from a recognised training institution 
• Advanced trade certificate 

Experience Requirements: 

• Sound experience at Boilermaker/Welder tradesman level. 
• Experience on the installation and repair of structures 
• Experience on Boilermaking and Welding 
• 8 years experience in a teaching position or as a on the job trainer 
• Exposure to the challenges of operating remote sites and in particular developing countries. 
• Knowledge of fabrication installations 
• Knowledge of the international welding codes, specifications & standards 
• Knowledge of Welding processes 
• Exposure to Fabrication and welding 
• A strong personal commitment to implement Boilermaking/Welding policies and procedures, with the ability to foster strong safety culture among Boilermaker/Welder personnel. 
• Ability to mentor and work with people from a wide range of nationalities and cultures and the willingness to share skills and knowledge with others. 
• Excellent planning, organisation skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities and the self-discipline to achieve tasks on time.
