SENIOR TRAINING OFFICER HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT
African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine in Tanzania seeks to appoint an experienced Senior Training Officer Heavy Mobile Equipment. Reporting to the Training Superintendent, the Senior Training Officer Heavy Mobile Equipment will be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance training of Mobile Plant Equipment. The work roster is six weeks on and three weeks off.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Development of training modules in mobile equipment for specific mining equipment - UG Trucks, UG loaders, Jumbo etc.
• Deliver mobile equipment training courses to all levels of BGM employees.
• Develop and construct hydraulic and pneumatic circuit board simulators.
• Produce reports and presentations using Ms Word, excel, Project and PowerPoint.
• Deliver the training courses at a world class standard.
• Maintain records and equipment at a high standard.
• Facilitate effective communication and understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Implementation, valuation and management of the idea suggestion system.
• Order equipment from outside suppliers.
• Coach and mentor training officer mobile equipment to a high standard.
• Work on breakdown equipment when required by line supervisors
• Ensure best practices are used when delivering training courses by developing course outlines, lesson plans, teaching presentations, learners hand outs/books, practical training aids and assessment tools for each course delivered.
• Ensure promotion pathways are developed and implemented for our clients.
• Provide ongoing guidance and development of teaching other staff.
• Provide mechanical mobile/equipments educationally pathways that lead to international qualification.
• Make courses available and assessable to as many people as possible via flexible delivery strategies.
• Involve our workforce/clients in decision making process to indentify course requirements.
• Identify a range of evaluation strategies to accommodate individual needs
• Ensure no promotion bottlenecks are caused by maintenance training
• Maintain training records for BGM employees attending the training at MTC
• Carry out production maintenance work as required both surface and underground.
• Deliver, develop, revise and maintain training courses for the following trades:
o Mobile Mechanics; Trucks and Loaders,
o Tyre Fitters,
o LV.Mechanics,
o HVD equipments Drivers and operators,
o Drill Mechanics and operators.
o Lube and Washbay trades,
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• Mobile Mechanics trade certificate from a recognised training institution.
• Diploma in teaching.
• Advanced trade certificate or Mechanical Diploma.
Experience Requirements:
• Sound experience at Mechanical Engineering and Technical services tradesman level.
• Experience on component installation and repair of Mobile Trucks, Loaders and hydraulics systems
• Experience on calibration, repair and replacement of components in mining mobile equipment; Loaders, Drills and Trucks Machines.
• 10 years experience in a teaching position or as a Mechanical maintenance on the job trainer.
• Strong Hydraulic and faulting finding skills.
• Exposure to the challenges of operating in the mine sites and in particular underground and surface work.
• Knowledge of general technical colleges, production industries and mining knowledge of the international Maintenance rules to Barrick Gold Corporation standards.
• Knowledge of General Machine shop; machinist, mechanical and mobile mechanics.
• Exposure to different types of mining equipment (Trucks/Loaders/Drills/pumps).
• A strong personal commitment to implement Mechanical / Mobile policies and procedures, with the ability to foster strong safety culture among Mechanical personnel.
• Ability to mentor and work with people from a wide range of nationalities and cultures and the willingness to share skills and knowledge with others.
• Excellent planning, organisation skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities and the self-discipline to achieve tasks on time.
