The Marketplace Project Lead will oversee, drive, and in large part contribute to the implementation of the Marketplace for Nutritious Foods in Tanzania
Qualifications:
Education
• Master’s degree in food science, agriculture, public health, nutrition or business administration.
Experience
• At least 5 years of experience in developing and managing projects in public health and nutrition in particular
Experience in delivering an integrated nutrition program in the region is an asset.
• Knowledge of agricultural value chains and understanding of public nutrition programming preferred.
• Experience working in a public/private partnership environment highly desirable.
• Strong networks across government, donors, NGO’s and private sector in Tanzania, and the region are highly desirable.
• Experience working in Tanzania is essential.
• Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
• Kiswahili language skills are desirable.

Responsibilities
Direct management of implementing partnerships and service providers:
• Manage SUGECO partnership.
• Identify business planning and TA providers in Tanzania, develop a good understanding of their capabilities, resources and geographic coverage.
• Establish and manage partnerships with TA providers including business planning consultants.
• Manage Communications Company’s support to Marketplace activities.
Conceptualization and implementation of Marketplace Community of Practice (CoP) activities:
• Through initial convenings and other marketing channels, attract, register and retain CoP members.
• Liaise with CoP members to identify themes for CoP convenings.
• Identify and engage speakers.
• Oversee organization of convenings (with support from Admin Assistant and partners).
• Design and develop CoP content offering (with support from intern, local communications agency, and GAIN Communications), including but not limited to: content for online portal, SMS outreach, social networking outreach, and print materials.
• Develop communications/content delivery strategy and oversee its implementation.
Coordination of the Marketplace Technical Advisory Committee (TAC)
• Engage with and get commitment of prospective TAC members.
• Perform TAC orientation.
• Act as liaison between CoP and TAC and between TAC and IC.
• Oversee organization of TAC communications and meetings (with support of Program Officer and Admin Assistant).
Management of relations between the Marketplace project and agribusiness companies participating in the Marketplace Innovation Accelerator, including identification and supervision of local business planning and technical assistance consultants:
• Act as main point of contact between GAIN and Accelerator companies.
• Develop and regularly update ‘support agreements’ between GAIN and Accelerator companies that clearly define business planning and TA support required.
• Create budgets for support agreements and ensure these align with overall programmable budget.
• Ensure business planning and TA supports adhere to the ‘support agreements’.
• Capture feedback from Accelerator companies and integrate this into overall Marketplace learning.
Other activities:
• Liaise with the Marketplace Investment Committee (IC).
• Hire and supervise Marketplace intern(s).
• Represent Marketplace project in public forums and at GAIN regional meetings, including with funding organizations.
• Work with GAIN Ag-Nut and fundraising staff to develop the ‘pitch’ for the Marketplace; identify opportunities for resource mobilization.
• Coordinate M&E activities according to M&E plans developed by HQ.
