Systems strengthening managers

Chemonics seeks multiple systems strengthening managers for the five-year, multibillion dollar, USAID-funded Global Health Supply Chain Project, expected to be awarded and operational in December 2014. The project will consolidate procurement and assistance components of the current USAID DELIVER and Supply Chain Management System programs. It will support global health initiatives in HIV/AIDS, malaria, maternal and child health, and reproductive health, focusing on global commodity procurement and logistics, systems strengthening to support in-country supply chain management, and collaboration via strategic engagement to improve long-term global supply of health commodities. The project will be USAID's primary vehicle for procuring and providing health commodities to partner countries and assisting them to improve their management of health commodity supply chains. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supervise a large systems strengthening and collaboration staff; ensure adequacy of their performance and their continuous professional development
  • Supervise deployment of technical assistance across all countries supported by the project
  • Oversee technical support to country-level staff in conceptualization of pharmaceutical management activities at the global and country level
  • Manage development of country-specific capacity building strategies and work plans; support development of accompanying technical materials for implementation of training activities
  • Oversee implementation of planned activities and review deliverables, ensuring quality of products
  • Introduce and improve upon countries' existing process improvement systems; support development of country-tailored systems strengthening programs
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in management, international development, or public health preferred; or bachelor's degree and an additional five years of work experience
  • Minimum seven years of experience supporting field programs and strengthening health systems in low-resource settings
  • Proven skill in forming, leading, and managing high-performing teams, including experience managing teams remotely
  • Experience interacting with U.S. and foreign governments and cooperating partners in implementing complex programs
  • Experience managing consultants and technical experts at a global level
  • Proven ability to work with cooperating partners in implementing complex programs
  • Excellent interpersonal, written,​ and oral communications skills; proven diplomatic and public relations skills
  • Experience with HIV/AIDS, family planning, and malaria programs preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required; proficiency in a foreign language of USAID-supported countries desirable; knowledge of French, Spanish, or Portuguese preferred​​​
