On behalf of the German Government, we support the Rwandan Ministry of Economic Planning and Finance in strengthening their capacities for macroeconomic management including the implementation of the Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy. The Project ‘Macro-economic Advice’ works with different departments and units in the Ministry and with the Rwandan Central Bank.
Your tasks
As head of Project you will be responsible for the overall project management, for the training needs assessment of counterpart staff, and will work hands-on with the partners in the following areas: macroeconomic forecasting, socio-economic impact analysis, in-depth economic analysis and technical support in elaborating analytical pieces. You will advise on improving the respective work processes and will be prepared to also work on urgent ad hoc assignments in the areas outlined above. Your responsibilities are based on detailed terms of reference.
Your profile
You hold a Master´s degree in economics and have a background in academia and research, with a high level of expertise in the fields of economic analysis especially macro-economics, macro-economic modelling and other relevant methods and instruments (reflected in respective publications). You have at least 6 years work experience in macroeconomic management and in a senior position, if possible in a developing country context. Advisory competence and excellent written and oral communication skills are also part of your professional profile. English at negotiating level is essential, German and French would be an advantage. Ideally, we are looking for a person who likes to work hands-on in an intercultural team and can combine an empathetic and patient approach with the necessary degree of assertiveness to bring together diverging interests.
Assignment period
As soon as possible until initially March 2014 (with an option of prolongation)
