Sao Hill Industries Ltd operates one of the largest Sawmills in East Africa, producing high quality sawn timber as well as pallets, doors and other value-added products. The company is also the main supplier of transmission poles in Tanzania. Sao Hill Industries Ltd also operates two state-of-the-art timber treatment plants and several charcoal kilns.

Location:Sao Hill Industries Ltd, Mafinga, Iringa, Tanzania. Contract Type: Permanent and pensionable.

Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting toChief Line Engineer / Hew Saw, the selected candidate will, 1 , Straighten and stretch steel in circular and band saws

Operate mechanical equipment and machines, and hand and powered tools

Mill, grind, press or sharpen cutting tools

Weld tools, saws and cutting edges (e.g. carbide tips)

Manufacture and/or maintain the straightness and balance in all cutting tools and saw blades

Use hand skills to manipulate machines to sharpen saws, carbide tips and cutting tools so that they produce the required surface finish on sawn or milled products

Maintain a range of mechanical parts on sawing machinery used in timber processing.

Keep saw doctoring room clean and organised at all times

Work closely with sawmill production team (Hewsaw and Lindsaw) to ensure required saw blades are ready for use in advance.

Perform his/her duties in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Standards.

Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Line Engineer Hew Saw, Company's Technical Manager and the General Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate shall have:

A Certificate or Diploma in Saw Doctoring, Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Wood Industries or any other related qualification.
