ALIMAK MECHANIC / TRAINER
African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine in Tanzania seeks to employ an Alimak Mechanic / Trainer. The successful incumbent will provide leadership and direction to the Tanzanian mechanical team to ensure compliance with safety, environment and security standards, and optimize safe production at minimum cost. This position reports to the Alimak Foreman and will be on a rotational basis of 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Train Tanzanian Alimak and drill mechanics, and develop and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
• Provide effective on the job training and coaching to ensure all employees learn new skills and achieve their maximum potential.
• Repair / Rebuild and maintain (Alimak) Mechanized raise climbers.
• Repair and maintain Air and Hydraulic drills.
• Ensure all personnel are aware of BGML safety and environmental policies and procedures, and ensure compliance at all times.
• Ensure all Operational Safe Work Procedures are adhered to at all times.
• Assist to achieve and sustain production targets.
• Train Tanzanian Alimak and drill mechanics, and develop and promote a safe and healthy work environment.

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Education Requirements:
• High School Certificate or Equivalent
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years underground mechanical experience with Alimak raise climber experience.
• Stopper drill, jack leg drill maintenance experience.
• Strong Leadership Skills
• Strong Organizational skills.
• Previous Expat work would be an asset.
• Welding experience would be an asset.
