Chemonics seeks a senior technical advisor for environmental monitoring and management in the oil and gas sector for the anticipated USAID-funded Uganda Environmental Management for the Oil Sector project. The project will aim to build the capacity of government ministries, departments, and agencies; academic and research institutions; civil society organizations; the private sector; and other key stakeholders to be better prepared to manage and mitigate impacts arising out of oil and gas development on the environment and biodiversity of the Albertine Rift. This position will be based in Uganda. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
*Provide technical assistance to Uganda's environmental institutions to build institutional capacity for inspection, monitoring, and reporting related to oil and gas impacts in ecologically sensitive areas
*Provide guidance to the chief of party and other team members on biodiversity conservation and environmental management to achieve project objectives
Job Requirements Qualifications:
*Master's degree in environmental science, conservation biology, forest management, sustainable ecological systems, oil and gas management, petroleum engineering, geosciences, or a related field of study required
*Minimum of seven years of experience working on or advising programs related to environmental monitoring and management in the oil and gas sector, of which at least two years include working in the developing world
*Excellent track record of achieving results in similar types of capacity-strengthening activities
*Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
*English proficiency required
