Background
The Unit Trust of Tanzania (UTT) is a government owned financial institution under the Ministry of Finance of the United Republic of Tanzania. It was incorporated in 2003 under the Trustees' Incorporation Ordinance (Cap 318) to advise and implement Government policies on matters related to economic empowerment and mutual funds sub sector.
The UTI prime objectives includes; to encourage savings and investment culture among the citizen of the United Republic of Tanzania, through establishment, launch and management of collective investment schemes and other initiatives in the country.
As UTI celebrates its 10th Anniversary on 19th June, 2013 and in order to maximize on' its accumulated skills and expertise; the Trust is now strategically positioning itself to reach and empower more Tanzanians, especially from the middle and low income end. In so doing UTI has now re-organized its organization structure from the previous five directorates into three functional divisions namely;
UTI-Microfinance (UTI-MFI)
UTI -Asset Management and Investor Services (UTI-AM IS), and
UTI- Projects and Infrastructure Development (UTI - Projects Management).
The UTI Microfinance
The objective of UTI Microfinance is to supplement and fast track the realization of UTI core objective of inculcating savings and investment culture through financing of economic viable and bankable projects. Specifically, the MFI objectives are:- to avail viable financing solutions to individuals, the SMEs andSACCOs and enable them implement socially as well as economically important projects, to give an opportunity to Unit holders' such that, they can utilize/ use their own savings in the form of collateral while securing loans ~:to serve other economic purposes, and to contribute towards stability and maturity of the microfinance sub sector in the country,

Reports to:Chief Operating Officer - UTT Microfii1ance
Purpose of the Job:
To manage the Business development and promotion department, generate new business ideas, opportunities and ensure that, the existing products are improved and well promoted and / or marketed.
Key duties and Responsibilities:
Develop a situational analysis of the organization including its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges to assist in the development of business strategic plan;
Develop and Generate new business ideas and opportunities;
Close follow up on business opportunities, ideas and provide feedback on existing products and develop clientele base and winning business proposals.
Initiate and ensure proper marketing and promotion strategies are in place such that UTI Microfinanceand its products are well promoted, advertised and that they don't lag behind other competitors and in the industry; Plan and prepare advertisement and promotional material to increase sales of products and services, working with customers, company officials, sales departments and advertising agencies.
Inspect layouts and advertising copy and edit scripts, audio and video tapes and other promotional material for adherence to specifications.
Prepare and negotiate advertising and sales, agency contracts etc;
Provide presentation 'and product demonstration support during the introduction of new products and services to field staff and customers;
Any other duties as would be assigned by supervisor/Senior officers.
Qualifications:
The holder of this position must have a first degree in Business management, marketing, advertising or any equivalent qualification thereof. A post graduate degree with specialization in product designing and promotion will be an added advantage .
Experience: At least 3 years of practical work experience.
Experience in Microfinance or Banking sector will be an addition added advantage
