Applicants are invited for the following positions:-


ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS –AC/5/229/11 – (1 POST) – (R&T)

Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in History of Education, Philosophy of Education, Comparative & Contemporary Issues in Education from a recognized university. They must have at least eight (8) years’ teaching experience at both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, three(3)of which must be at Senior Lecturer level. They must have supervised at least two (2) PhD students and three (3) Masters students to completion. Applicants must have at least five (5) publications in refereed journals or three (3) publications and two (2) chapters in scholarly books since the last promotion.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise at both undergraduate and postgraduate students. They will also be expected to conduct and supervise research in their areas of specialization


LECTURER, SCHOOL OF COMPUTING & INFORMATICS- 2 POSTS - (CBPS) – AC/5/230/11-

Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in Computer Science from a recognized university specializing in any of the following disciplines:- Computer Architecture, Computer Communication Networks & Distributed Systems, Computing Systems Security, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Simulation& Modeling. - . Those who possess a Masters degree in Computer Science specializing in the areas mentioned above and have at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level will also be considered. In both cases, they should have research experience, with at least two (2) publications in refereed journals or two chapters in scholarly books since last promotion. They should show evidence of continuing research activity.

The successful candidates will be expected to teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate students and undertake further research in their areas of specialization. They will also be expected to participate in departmental activities such as curriculum development among other administrative duties.




LECTURER, DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS -2 POSTS - (CEES) – AC/5/231/11-

Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant field or equivalent in any of the following areas: - History of Education, Philosophy of Education and Comparative & Contemporary Issues in Education from a recognized university. Those who possess a Masters degree in relevant field and have at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level will also be considered. In both cases, they should have research experience, with at least two (2) publications in refereed journals or two chapters in scholarly books since last promotion. They should show evidence of continuing research activity.

The successful candidates will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate students and undertake further research in their areas of specialization.


LECTURER, DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY IN THE FOLLOWING UNITS:-

a) GENERAL SURGERY– AC/5/232/11-(2 POSTS) - (CHS)

b) PAEDIATRIC SURGERY AC/5/233/11-(2 POSTS) - (CHS)


Applicants must be holders of an MMed degree in General Surgery. They should have research experience, with at least two (2) publications in refereed journals or two chapters in scholarly books . They should show evidence of continuing research activity. They must have at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level

The successful candidates will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate students and undertake further research in their areas of specialization.


TUTORIAL FELLOW, LAND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND AGRICULTURE TECHNOLOGY (LARMAT) – 1 POST- AC/5/234/11-(CAVS)

Applicants must be holders of a Masters degree in Range Management with a bias in Rangeland Livestock Production/ Management Systems or related fields from a recognized university.
They are must show evidence of having registered for a Ph.D. degree.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in area of specialization.

Please note that the appointment is on a two -year contract terms renewable on mutual agreement.


GRADUATE ASSISTANT, SCHOOL OF MATHEMATICS-1 POST-AD/5/235/11-(CBPS)

Applicants must be holders of a first degree (1st Class honours) in Statistics. They must have registered for a Masters degree and be in Second Year of Study undertaking Mathematical

Statistics. Those who are in possession of a Masters degree in Mathematical Statistics will have an added advantage.

Please note that the appointment is on a one year contract terms renewable on mutual agreement.


SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST GRADE DEF (MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGY UNIT), LAND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND AGRICULTURE TECHNOLOGY (LARMAT) – 1 POST- AD/5/236/11-(CAVS)

Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor of Science degree in relevant subject or a Higher National Diploma in Bacteriology and/or Microbiology or Medical Microbiology or related fields. They must have at least five (5) years experience as a Technologist grade ABC or its equivalent in vaccine production and /or production of microbial inoculants (Biofertilizers and/ or Biopesticides. They should be computer literate.

The successful candidate will be in charge of a busy Microbiology Laboratory involved in teaching, research and advisory services. He/she will also be required to plan, conduct and/or supervise demonstrations or analysis for staff, students, ensure lab equipment and facilities are regularly calibrated among other duties.


SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST GRADE DEF, DEPARTMENT OF URBAN & REGIONAL PLANNING-AD/5/237/11- (1 POST) - (CAE)

Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor of Science degree in relevant subject or a Higher National Diploma in Cartography, Building and Civil Engineering or Architecture, or Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent professional qualification. They must have at least five (5) years experience as a Technologist grade ABC or its equivalent .Applicants with expertise in GIS and Remote Sensing will have an added advantage. They should be computer literate.

The successful candidate will be expected to assist both undergraduate and postgraduate students in studios, workshops, computer labs and during fieldwork research. He/she will also be expected to carry out routing maintenance of equipment and procure materials among other duties.


SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST GRADE DEF, DEPARTMENT OF REAL ESTATE& CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT-AD/5/238/11- (3 POSTS) - (CAE)

Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Economics, Architectural Studies or Structural Engineering or a Higher National Diploma in Building & Civil Engineering or Architectural Studies. In both cases, they must have at least five (5) years experience as a Technologist grade ABC or its equivalent .They should be computer literate. They must show evidence of working knowledge in a Computer Aided Design Package, Activity Scheduling Packages or Quantity Surveying Package.


Those who have either worked in a design office or on a site for at least one and a half years will have an added advantage.

The successful candidates will be expected to assist both undergraduate and postgraduate students in their practicals among other duties.


TECHNOLOGIST GRADE ABC, DEPARTMENT OF REAL ESTATE& CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT-AD/5/239/11- (2 POSTS) - (CAE)

Applicants should be holders of an Ordinary Diploma in Building & Civil Engineering or Architectural Studies from a recognized institution. They must have at lest three (3) years working experience. They should have a working knowledge in a computer design package and activity scheduling package. Experience in the computer package for at least one year either in a design office or on site will be an added advantage. Those who have higher qualifications will have an added advantage.

The successful candidates will be expected to assist both undergraduate and postgraduate students in their practicals among other duties.


ASSISTANT SECRETARY GRADE A, FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE-AD/5/240/11
- 1 POST - (CAVS)

Applicants should be holders of a KCSE Grade C or KCE III or its equivalent qualification with a Credit in English language. In addition they must have passed the following subjects offered by the Kenya National Examinations Council or equivalent examining body:-
- Business English II
- Commerce II
- Secretarial Duties II
- Office Management III
- Shorthand 80 wpm or Audio Typing III
- Typewriting 50 wpm
They must be computer literate.

Please note that the successful candidate will be deployed in the Department of Agricultural Economics.


ASSISTANT SECRETARY GRADE A, PAEDIATRIC DENTISTRY/ORTHODONTICS-AD/5/241/11- 1 POST - (CHS)

Applicants should be holders of a KCSE Grade C or KCE III or its equivalent qualification with a Credit in English language. In addition they must have passed the following subjects offered by the Kenya National Examinations Council or equivalent examining body:-
- Business English II

- Commerce II
- Secretarial Duties II
- Office Management III
- Shorthand 80 wpm or Audio Typing III
- Typewriting 50 wpm
They must be computer literate.

RECORDS CLERK GRADE IV, SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS-AD/5/242/11-1 POST- (CHSS)

Applicants must be holders of a KCSE C or equivalent with credits in English and Mathematics or equivalent. They must have at least three (3) years experience as Clerk Grade III or equivalent and must have shown merit and ability in work performance and results. Those who have accounting skills with a KATC final will have an added advantage.

DRIVER GRADE III, TRANSPORT SECTION-AD/5/243/11- 5 POSTS- (R&T)

Applicants should be holders of at least KCSE level of education or equivalent qualification. They must have a clean valid driving license classes ABCE and PSV, passed in Occupational Test Grade III, certificate in First Aid and at least three (3) years satisfactory previous driving experience after obtaining license.
